Precision turning

Post by suntravel »

That is what you can get with cheap Chinese hardware (Machine, Servos, Ball Screws and Scales) if you use Acorn Six CNC....

10 Parts within 0.01mm, no special effort, tools measured with the TTO, Programm with Intercon, hit and run, no further corrections in the setup or tool wear.

5 Tool changes per part with a Chinese Multifix copy tool holder, no special efforts, just an ok set up cheap machine.

Chuck is a good EU made Bison, Acorn Six with closed loop, scales and dialed in with all compensations, Beta 5.19 software.

OD threads with 2000 rpm, Id threads rigid tapped with 1000 rpm.

I am very pleased how easy it is to make good parts fast with Centroid CNC.

With high alloy tool steel also no problem to be within IT7 tolerance from first part on...

... but I hate cleaning steel chips, even if they have a cool blue color

And now small long parts without using a center point...

Milling is also ok with compensation dialed in right.

Fusion 4mm, real part 4.001 - 4.007mm right after posting and hit cycle start on a cheap chinese benchtop mill within a series of 10 parts...

Finding center of the turned part is <0.005 mm deviation with KP3 probe compared to a dial indicator on the spindle.
