Leo, thanks for posting his memorial, I did not know that, a loss indeed!

Yes, I tried the gadget as well. I have several older versions still installed, but none of them old enough to run the gadget.

Leo, I got in touch with Mark Moran at Vectric and pointed him to this topic. He took a look at Paul's old gadget and didn't think it would work, besides being outdated for Vectirc's gadget language. We also spoke about the "Shopbot Probe Importer" gadget, but it converts SB code. He performed some minor tweaks to that gadget to work with the sample 20r.dig file and that creates a toolpath that can then be previewed and used to create a component from. I think that with some sample files of a surface probe (like what you and I would be interested in), Vectric could come up with a gadget that would work for Aspire users. I gave it a try and can quickly create a component from the toolpath preview. Here's what he had to say and also the gadget files to install and try. Attached is my preview image as well.
Hello Scott,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
I am afraid that I have not had a great amount of time to look fully in to this.
I had a quick look at Paul's CSV importer, but I don't think that without a lot of work,
this would do what Leo is asking in the post.
The best candidate as you mentioned is the Shopbot importer.
I have performed some very minor tweaks to the ShopBot importer to support the format of the '20r.dig' file that you sent to me,
but ideally the Gadget would need quite a bit of modification to support any slight differences of the format.
The gadget that I have attached should work for any files that exactly match the format of your sample file,
would not be very forgiving of any variances of the format.
I have added the Gadget for you to play with.
(Copy both the 'G-Code_Probe_Importer' file to the C:\Users\Public\Documents\Vectric Files\Gadgets\Aspire V11.0 folder
and re-start the software).
To answer Leo's question fully, once the toolpath has been imported into Aspire, you can preview the toolpath in the
3D toolpath preview window, then use the "Model > Create Component from > Create Component"
This will create a model Component. This can be used to project toolpaths onto, etc.
This could also be triangulated and exported as an STL file from Aspire.
(Model > Export as STL).

I hope that this helps.

Regards,
Mark.

Back on the subject of this thread, here's one that was done for a business presentation/appreciation gift. White oak slab, 48" x 8" or so. 14 hours for the finish pass.

3 years since my "Conversion" and I'm still loving how CNC12/Acorn handles these things! 8-)
