Re: Inrush current limiter?

Milton, All the Torroids that I have with 4 wires for the primary windings have two sets of the same colors. All of mine are red and black. For 110v (120) the reds go together for one pair and the blacks go together for the other pair. So the windings are wired in parallel! For 230 volt, the red and...

Re: Erroneous Torque Nomenclature?

Not sure this will help but here goes: Oz in is just a ratio to lb in. Let's say you have [1600 oz in] as the amount of torque. To get [lb in] you just divide by 16 as there are 16 oz in a lb. Now if you want [foot lb] you are changing the distance of measurement and not the division of weight. So d...

Re: G0678 CNC Conversion Thread

Marty, Good idea on the ball screws. These came from Automationoverstock.com and are made by Hiwin. This ball nut has 4 rows of balls. It is called a "Zero Backlash" nut and the specs say .0007" or less backlash. Price was less than $100.00 US. Includes the grease fitting and is shipp...

Re: G0678 CNC Conversion Thread

Y axis ball screw came in today so I had to make sure everything was going to fit. It does! With a .040" gauge block on top of the knee elevation screw, it centers on the existing hole just about perfect. There will be a 1" face plate to attache the thrust bearing and to mount the Teknic c...

Re: Limit/home switches

Those of us coming over from the Mach 3 world are accustom to the "unload" button that removes the active G-Code file. So we need to develop some new habits! Loading a null file may be the answer! I see I am going to have to re-work my Mach 3 setup on the lathe once I finish this mill proj...

Fusiohn 360, Yup, even old guys like me can work with Fusion 360. I think it is by far the easiest of the Cad/Cam programs to learn. Autodesk has a lot of good videos with step by step instructions for beginners. I still have an issue with bolt holes from sketch. I don't have the time to stop right ...

Re: G0678 CNC Conversion Thread

Milton, Yeah the bottles and ashtrays would be a problem. That is why it is a "private" studio and I rarely ever had anyone else in. I did do a couple of sessions here but it was for some friends whom did not trash the place. I built the studio for me to do DEMO's of songs that I wrote. I ...

Re: G0678 CNC Conversion Thread

Milton, Too funny! I tend to drive a lot of people nuts but the wife and I are both just alike, it works for us, and it just makes life easier for me to have things in order and know where things are. It must be a personality disorder or order, depends on how you look at it but it has helped me in l...

Re: G0678 CNC Conversion Thread

Ok, Clearpath issues are taken care of thanks to the Engineer from Teknic. So I reworked the control panel last night and set it up for the three clearpath motors. I don't think it looks as good as before but with the door closed, who cares! I did the best I could reusing the space. I have an 8 term...

Re: G0678 CNC Conversion Thread

Update: John from Automation Technologies called this morning. Apparently Leadshine had an issue with some encoder cables. John was able to make a setup work at his shop but said if I was not comfortable using these motors he would take them back with a full refund. So back they go and I will change...
