Re: Very Exciting Boring Machine Conversion
Forgot I had this video of the Speedy 207 running flawlessly before I tore her apart. Gotta break an egg to make an omelette! https://youtu.be/7m2NnMCgSk4 I am still having issues getting the x axis encoder to talk to the drive. Finally decided to hook up the Y axis for comparison, and it worked bas...

Re: Very Exciting Boring Machine Conversion
Within 1 hour I had a response from Machdrive. Looks like I might have the step/dir active high/active low inverted. I had inverted it for testing then connected to the DB25 and didn't switch it back to normal. I thought the indicator lights were supposed to be lit, then flash when active, but they ...

Re: Very Exciting Boring Machine Conversion
DB25 worked.
Old drives were Axor MiniSpeed 130s that had incompatible control inputs.

Re: Very Exciting Boring Machine Conversion
That worked, tried probing the DB25 and I got step/dir at the drive. Drive threw a following error with a jog command that resulted in no motion, but it's progress. I'll pick up a DB25 and go from there.

OK. What is the difference between the DB25 and the headers?martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 3:57 pm I believe you need to use the DB25 on Acorn. Get a DB25 male breakout from Amazon.
I’ll try inverting the signals first. The ENABLE signal is currently being received by the drive. So that’s a start!

Here is the manual for the Machdrives. https://www.machdrives.com/pdf/BRB%20BRC%20User%20Manual.pdf#page16 Connection diagram: https://www.machdrives.com/Images/BRC/BRC%20Drive%20Layout.png I’m using the PS that came with the Acorn for 0V and 5V on both Acorn and drives. The only terminal that isn’t...

Re: Very Exciting Boring Machine Conversion
i'd go with new axis motors on all three axes for sure. :D That was my first inclination, but I couldn’t find anything with a shaft OD that matched up with the drive sprocket. I figured I already had motors that were engineered to fit the machine, so I opened the electronic can of worms instead of ...

Very Exciting Boring Machine Conversion
Hi all, I picked up a 1999 Masterwood Speedy 207 a while back with only 6 hours on it. Previous owner had bought it, and never figured out how to use it. I fired it up before the tear down and it ran perfectly. It’s a VERY solid machine, altogether weighs about 3/4 ton. Ball screw on X/Y. Envelope i...
