Re: New Centroid Teknic Clearpath officially supported configurations

I'm still with Dave C's original concern about this. Many of us were wired with 1K resistors going to 24v, per both Centroid schematics and Teknic recommendations. Then, in recent posts, Teknic said that 1K was intended for 5v pullup, and that 10K should be used for 24v, mostly because of current d...

Re: New Centroid Teknic Clearpath officially supported configurations

Yup, clear as mud! Thanks for publicly trashing me for trying to help! It wasn't clear that you had changed the power supply to 5 vdc as most of us who used the terminals were used to it being 24 vdc. I won't try to help any more nor will I be purchasing any more products from Centroid! EVER Dave C...

Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn

Enjoying the series. My question is, would it be acceptable to just wire the e stop to kill power to the entire cabinet. i could see a situation where the board or one of the power supplies malfunctioned and start to make magic smoke, and shutting off the power would be a better solution. I guess m...

Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn

Marty, If I understood your video correctly, the output of your IPC-5 goes through your E-stop contactor. If that is correct, I see an issue with this approach. If you hit e-stop while the machine is moving quickly and the motors start dumping energy because they are being driven my moving mechanica...

I see that you powered acorn via a separate power supply. Any particular reason for that? I have been planning on using a 5amp 24v power supply for all of my power needs including the power hub and relay coils.

Re: Position feedback on the screen while motors are disabled

I don’t believe this is supported with the acorn. The acorn cannot take any positional input from an axis at all. I would think you would need a controller that can read the encoder feedback of servo systems directly. Maybe centroid can say if this is possible on their higher end servo control boards.

Re: Homing and Squaring with Software Pairing using Clearpath servo (sdk model)

I have recently been building controllers for a few avid benchtop pros. Here are a few things 1. You need NPN Normally closed switches. Acorn inputs are trigger by connecting the input to common (V-) 2. You’ll have to think about how you want to use the 8 inputs on the acorn board. Because the numbe...

Re: CNC12 Router v4.62 ATC Initialization attempt

If you press "cycle start" at that point what does it do? (If you do this, make sure you have your tools set up as it asks).

Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn

Please note, that like some others, I am a bit hesitant to use these boards until a proper solution to secure them is in hand. Would be nice if one of are users proficient with CAD and 3D printing could design and make some brackets for it. Anyone? Anyone? :D I'll have you covered! I'm going to be ...

Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn

TaylorPilot, You will likely be fine with one IPC-5 but good to leave space for two, just in case. RogDC, Good example regarding power supply sizing for your machine. Thanks There has been some confusion and misinformation lately regarding the resistors used for the ClearPath step and direction inp...
