Which one do you prefer? I'm going to guess the Metrol knock offs?
What I was going for was wondering if you ever tested the accuracy between the two

Re: Looking for a decent switch based tool length sensor
Has anyone (Gary?) tested the eBay metrol knock offs against the inductive type?

Re: Looking for a decent switch based tool length sensor
Are you sure that your spindle can't conduct electricity? Some of the ceramic bearing ones have a steel bearing in them as well so they do conduct electricity. I made one with an inductive prox switch: 2021-03-20 at 9.17 PM.png 2021-03-20 at 9.17 PM.png When the tool presses down it moves the bolt i...

Re: Easy Visual Wiring Diagrams
Agreed! The sample wiring diagrams are really useful to get started but for me when you start combining more sensors, VFDs, and a bunch of other stuff I end up with pages of notes all over the place. What's nice with this is that I can bench test stuff, figure out all of the wiring and then just dis...

Easy Visual Wiring Diagrams
Hey all, I'm doing an upgrade to my Acorn setup (Ether1616 expansion board) and I decided it was time to convert my wiring diagrams from hand drawn scrawl to something a little better: https://miro.com/app/board/o9J_lQeW2dw=/ This is a free white boarding app that you can use to do mind mapping and ...

That's a great analogy. Thanks!

Re: 5V vs 24V Probe
I guess that's an interesting question... So if there's a 100ms delay when using the expansion board, and 5ms when using something directly wired to Acorn is it always the same delay? If so it wouldn't really matter what the delay is (to a point) as long as it's predictable. I suspect that's not the...

Re: 5V vs 24V Probe
Thanks Swissi, that's what I figured would be the case. Whichever probe I end up with I'll likely use the Ether1616 for the probe detect, and put the actual probing input on the Acorn itself.

Re: 5V vs 24V Probe
PS what are the "probe protection features" I was able to wire this one up with a "probe detect" line as well.

Re: 5V vs 24V Probe
There's actually no logos on it at all :) Look, agree with you on that it might not be the best idea to try and use it, but it's sitting here and I want to try and learn something. Since I have the expansion board and a test Acorn wired up I figured I'd fool around. There's a lot of cheaper 5 volt p...
