Re: Setting lathe tools with a touch probe V5.08
When you say "tools that point forward", presumably you mean "away from the operator". And when you say boring bar "face away from the front", you mean the insert is pointing toward the operator. As you know, I had problems with lathe tool offsets. I forget the specific...

Re: Which Centroid controller for Bridgeport Interact?
You can get clones of the generic Omron / Heidenhain etc encoders from various "on line retailers" for ~£40 / $40. I've used these in several places and not had any issues. Ironically, the only issues I've had with my SEM motors have been failures of the original optical encoders (twice). ...

Re: Lathe tool offsets Not saving the correct file V5.08
Are you saying you have tried touching off an internal boring bar? On my machine, I have to touch off on the same side of the axis as external tools. In this case, there is an error in the tool length calculation. I forget the details but they are spelled out in that thread. There was no simple nume...

Re: Lathe tool offsets Not saving the correct file V5.08
I don't know if you are aware of some of the issue with tool touchoff in Acorn Lathe. There was (presumably still is) an issue with the offset calculations when touching off in some circumstances. I haven't seen a resolution yet but there again I haven't checked every release note since this was fou...

Re: Fusion 360 Mill Post Processor for Acorn with additional Features (New Version 5)
Has anybody managed to use Swissi's PP with TIm Patterson's Fusion PostProcessAll plug in? Edit - I think I am getting there. Looks like you need to edit Swissi's PP file and set the variables there directly as the plug in bypasses the PP in Fusion completely and only uses the file. So, any variabl...

Re: Acorn Controller Wiring With A NPN Proxi Sensor - Question
The testing I conducted is without the acorn just switch and power supply and triggering object - but I think I understand .... the high level is that it doesn't matter because there is 24V at the input terminal so long as you are using the same power supply (or voltage) as the 24V in pin youre goo...

Re: Acorn Controller Wiring With A NPN Proxi Sensor - Question
I've used those Omron knock-off sensors. They are open collector normally open (although they are also available as normally closed). The 24V you are measuring is due to the pullup resistor within the Acorn. This pulls the input up to 24V when there is no path to ground via the switch. As the 24V is...

Re: Last Call - Chinese AC Servo For Spindle Upgrade
Here's the Lichuan B2 manual https://m.europages.com/filestore/gallery/8c/5b/16642278_6063bf17.pdf . And a link to their servo products http://servo.xlichuan.com/products.aspx?TypeId=11&FId=t3:11:3 I used the Lichuan A4 / A6 servos on one of my machines. Fairly basic, with minimal access to inte...

Re: Giving up on controller-commanded spindle speed
Very few of those VFDs make any attempt at filtering the mains connection and they are surely throwing out masses of noise back into the mains network and also out the low voltage control connections. In that context, it may be miraculous that the systems incorporating them work at all when powered ...

Could do - similar effect, slightly different method.
