Re: Novakon Torus pro, Servo motor axis config. .850" off over 4"

Section 7.3 of the Acorn Installation Manual: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy/downloads/acorn_documentation/centroid_acorn_install_manual.pdf Oh, Yes, I did the fine tuning and used the overall turns ratio calculator from the forum here, thats how I got my overall turns ratio of 4 to get m...

It's your machine and your call....
What do you mean by the DRO fine tuning?

Yes forsure, I guess I am happy its cutting accurately, but Im just curious theoretically would my cutting feed rate be off?

Re: Novakon Torus pro, Servo motor axis config. .850" off over 4"

You probably don't have the drive setup correctly. Possibly you have a bad value in gearing. You really should contact the vendor that sold you the drives for guidance. I will do that. I guess I am still wondering, what is wrong with how I have it now? If it cuts accurately what is the tradeoff or ...

Re: Novakon Torus pro, Servo motor axis config. .850" off over 4"

Your noise is gone. ALWAYS use a shielded cable If your ballscrew pitch is 5.08turns per inch, screw direct driven by the servo, then set the Overall Turns Ratio that way. (5.08) You have a 2500 count encoder, set the Step/Revolution to 10,000 (2500x4 in quadrature, please read your manual, specifi...

Re: Novakon Torus pro, Servo motor axis config. .850" off over 4"

Post a link to the manual on those drives. You should use shielded cable on the step/dir signals not loose wire and as previously mentioned, all components should have been mounted to sheetmetal. (I like to use thick aluminum sheet if the cabinet did not come with a back panel) Not saying these are...

Re: Has anyone tried the Drewtronics TS1000 tool setter?

Like the subject says, wondering if anyone has tried the Drewtronics TS1000 tool setter ? Did you buy this Tool Setter? Thinking about adding support for such type of probes to the ProbeApp. -swissi I did. I haven’t installed it yet. I can get on it though. Hey did you get this setup? I'm working o...

Re: Prox switches only register as positive. Get stuck beyond switch??

where in the machine travel are the switches mounted? in the middle? on the ends of travel etc.. identify the locations. This has been solved for me. Marty gave me some insight; I had all three inputs setup to HOMELIMITOK, but they needed to be HOMEOK only. I used the soft limits as table limits, a...

Re: Novakon Torus pro, Servo motor axis config. Not even close

Your encoders are 2500 pulses per rev which is 10000 counts per rev. You don't tell us how the motors are connected to the ballscrews so I don't know if your turns per inch setting is correct. If your motors are direct coupled, then it is. You have resend requests in your error logs - this should b...

Re: Prox switches only register as positive. Get stuck beyond switch??

Did you follow wiring diagram S14955? It shows you how to wire it, what your inputs are set to and the manual explains the homing sequence. If they are each wired to its own input you need to tell Acorn which one it is. It's not "homelimitok" for all 3. The "inputs" need to be s...

Re: Novakon Torus pro, Servo motor axis config. Not even close

Best practice would have all of your devices attached to a continuous metallic backplane. Your VFD motor should be shielded as well. Noise gremlins can be notorious to track. With your steps per rev set to 2500 you should be getting 1/4 the distance, not 2/3. Are you sure your drivers are configure...
