Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

I started getting X-Axis position errors. The X Axis is clearly not happy. I shut down and restarted to see if homing would help but the X servo is oscillating Is there anything I should check as far as tuning. What other diagnostics are available? I noticed that an autotune was run - I am not sure ...

Re: NPT Threads in Intercon - Workflow

I will assume the new threads can be saved for future use. I’m using an ER11 A60 insert that doesn’t make a full profile. What type of insert would be required to create the minor diameter as programmed. Thanks for the info on reducing minor diameter.

Re: NPT Threads in Intercon - Workflow

I decided to start with a simpler test. Assume tool offsets are set correctly... My test gage is a nut - not ideal but I'm just experimenting. I need to learn to use thread wires... I cut M6x1 threads and had the proper OD, per micrometer, but the nut did not fit. I adjusted tool wear, several times...

NPT + Threads in Intercon - Workflow

I have just started investigating Intercon for the lathe and wanted to know a bit more about cutting NPT threads. For standard threads my workflow is FACE - TURN - THREADS. As I enter the threads I note the Major Diameter and go back to modify the turning op to match. With NPT threads I am not clear...

EDIT I am looking for a probe to set tools >> I went with a Drewtronic
Is it possible to advance the turret via the wmpg?

That does not require the spindle encoder at all, but of course it will only orient in whatever position or positions the lockpin can engage in. Does it have more than one slot/hole in one turn of the spindle?
There are 4 slots

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

I would like to understand spindle orientation and how to achieve it. Is it based on a spindle encoder? I read that M19 is the code are there is a Pxx after to define the angle. I tried it and no go.
I'm assuming the orientation is to activate the spindle lock but are there other uses?

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

Know you got me wondering...I thought my encoders were near the motors...and they are but in line with the ball screws. Todays milestone was to program a part in Fusion and post it to the Hardinge. Like all first time adventures there were things that needed adjusting. The one big problem was with t...
