I’m assuming the pneumatic line and valve is a brake of some sort?

Why does it need such a large servo? That’s nearly double the shaft size. I don’t know enough about the load and such to make sense of a one horse power motor powering this. I picked up a very nice condition, save for a little surface rust. Yuasa SUDX-220 rotary axis. It has a Electro-Craft E643 (pn 643-034-0120) servo motor on it. I'd like to replace with a servo and drive, I'm thinking closed loop stepper, or one of the new Leadshine setups. I'm not sure what I to buy...

Mine is a couple years old and out of warranty. I have multiple Acorn machines, so I'm using the wireless MPG off my lathe for now. I was really bummed when the encoder stopped working. I'd rather pay twice as much and not have it fail after a few years of VERY light use, Never dropped, etc.

Mine did this right before the MPG rotary encoder stopped working.
