Re: FADAL TRM - Control Cabinet Wiring Advice
I used the Eaton UL489 breakers in mine as well but it’s not running yet. I remember someone cautioning me about inrush current of drives and inverters when sizing these things. I bought D curve breakers sized for the rated current. I kinda went to the opposite extreme and put separate line reactors...

Re: OAK/DYN4
I’m nervous about that. Drives and cables are about 2 months old and the servos just got here a couple weeks ago. I had them build some 1kW servos that were stretched out versions of the 750W 86M model so it took a while to get them built. At least I’ll know what to look for if they aren’t working r...

Re: OAK/DYN4
Yeah those numbers don’t seem like they could be right. I have been chipping away at my retrofit for a while now and am to the point where I need to test my servos and drives, so your video caught my interest. I did find that DMM video last night. I should be able to try mine out with the Oak someti...

Re: OAK/DYN4
Marty did you ever get any explanation of the GEAR_NUM/LINE_NUM parameters from DMM. I notice you are using 2000 for both in lieu of the 8192/4095 they recommended.

Re: flying cables to servo driver/amp for oak
I looked at a haas of that vintage recently with the intent of retrofitting it. From the research I did, I don’t think there is any practical way to use the drives with another control. The one I looked at had Yaskawa SGMG servos and nothing on their data plates indicated they were anything specific...

Re: flying cables to servo driver/amp for oak
I think if it were me I’d work backwards from the servos (sigma I maybe) and see if I could find some used drives that aren’t HAAS proprietary. Not sure though, the servos may use some proprietary interface too. The data plates on your servos might clear that up. I didn’t have the option with mine s...

I have no useful advice but I’m looking forward to seeing you get them running.
I’ve never seen one of those, they look like neat little lathes.

Re: Special request, encoder input scalar
I'd like to know as well. I haven't found many that will work on a 7500+ rpm spindle. One place I have found in my searching is: https://www.rls.si/eng/products/rotary- ... l-encoders
Looks to me like a couple of theirs would work.

Re: Webb Champ Conversion - VFD First
I think the GS3 drives go up to 3HP on single phase and have encoder cards available if you want/need that capability. I have a 1HP teco drive on my bandsaw that takes 120V in and puts 240 out, I don’t think you will find that on a 3HP drive though.

Re: Older HAAS VMC with shot pin spindle orient
Thanks Keith. That’s reassuring. Servos were waiting for me when I got home so I guess it’s time to get started.
