Re: It's me again, Clearpath losing/gaining steps

Checked the resistors and sure enough they were 1K. I ordered the C86ACCP board and this looks very promising.

Re: It's me again, Clearpath losing/gaining steps

Keith The problem has mysteriously gone from Y to Z and back again in the past. I put a new gear reduction and two new motors on the machine in an effort to find it. The connection between the gear reduction and the motor is the only possible place that slippage could occur. It is pretty robust! Rog...

It's me again, Clearpath losing/gaining steps <resolved, loose pulley>

Guys even if it is just a wild guess, let me hear it. I am really on my last wit here. For some reason the x and z axis of my machine started to gain or lose steps. There are several posts on her about this. After working on it for a bit I am thinking that it is a static electricity problem. The con...

Re: Long time problem is back

report_F045DA7F1D3D-1211181417_2023-01-25_14-10-53.zip I removed the wiring powering the VFD. Then combined all of the 115 V wiring into one and plugged it into another circuit in the building. Now air cutting the file that would not run yesterday. After running twice, 20:42 run time, X axis is rig...

Re: Long time problem is back

Where in the report is the error log? I am about to go out and un-wire the VFD then run the rest of the system on a different circuit in the building. I plan to air cut the last job that I ran and see what happens. I will also generate a report.

Re: Long time problem is back

We are in Titusville. Question, should the shielding for the VFD cable be grounded at one end or both ends? My wife pointed out yesterday that we never had a bit of problem till we moved into the building that we own. It is served by three phase power that has a wild leg. This was popular years ago ...

Long time problem is back

I converted my Shopbot Buddy in 2019. I used an Acorn board, Clearpath motors and cables along with Clearpath power supplies. Since 2021 I have had a problem where for no apparent reason the X or Z axis will stop moving although the computer is sending step and direction commands to it. Quite a few ...

Re: Random faults will a C86ACCP help?

Thanks Gary I think the light just went on and I will be following up on it. My machine has an E Chain that is at least ten feet long. The two Axes that have been deviling me (X an Z) run through that chain. So does the power cable for the spindle. So there is quite a load running through that E Cha...

Re: Random faults will a C86ACCP help?

Yes I did put in the resistors and also have done a pretty complete job of EFI proofinf.

One of the problems I have had involved a very large toolpath. Am I correct in guessing that Centroid loads the whole toolpath into RAM memory just before starting the cut?

Random faults will a C86ACCP help?

I have had my Acorn for over three years now. Since new it has has periods of intermittent faults and strange behaviors. It will run for months at a time just perfectly, then it will decide to loose steps and/or give an over torque fault and just stop moving. This usually starts when I slap a $60 pi...
