Re: Aspire post processor and centroid question

It is a valid G code file, describing a valid toolpath.

If it is not the toolpath you wanted, then that is for you to sort out with your CAD/CAM software. I cannot help you with that.

Re: Aspire post processor and centroid question

"Nothing works" is an all-too-common error report. In fact, it appears that lots of things worked. Your CAD/CAM system ran. Your CAD/CAM system posted a valid G code file. You apparently got that G code file loaded on the control. The control is able to run that G code file without parse e...

Re: Axis4 or Axis5 movement from PLC

No, I have not written any applications that successfully use PLC MPG offset mode. Is there no other position feedback (e.g. tool-counter sensor and arm-position sensors) for those components, other than the servo motor encoders? If there were position sensors, then you could just enable and run the...

Re: Runaway Servo Motor

Was anything replaced or disconnected and reconnected, since it was last known to move W without error? This sounds a little like a polarity mismatch. You could try reversing the W plus and minus motor power leads, on terminals 7 and 8 of the servo drive. However, more likely it is a failed servo dr...

Re: Axis4 or Axis5 movement from PLC

No, Centroid does not provide that capability in any obvious way. The usual solution, as you noted, is to have the PLC program send a signal back to the CNC macro, and do the servo axis movement in the CNC macro. You could conceivably do something with the PLC MPG Offset mode features; but it would ...

Re: Wait for spindle

use the "up to speed" input, no need for any custom plc programming work. Are you sure that his Acorn-standard PLC program or M3/M4 macros will do anything with that input? Looking at the 12/11/2023 AcornSix template (the only one I have immediately handy) I see where "VFDUpToSpeed&q...

Re: Automation Direct GS20 to Centroid interface parameters

Spindle speed display on the screen is never based on analog feedback from the VFD. By default (Parameter 78 = 0), the spindle speed display is the commanded speed. If you set bit 0 of Parameter 78, then the spindle speed display is based on the rotation of a spindle encoder. Obviously, that is only...

You are correct that it would be technically better to use R1O, and configure it as a "drive ready" indicator.

The only reason that most Centroid installations use N.C. contacts and a "malfunction" status is 30 years of inertia.

Re: Acorn lathe conversational

I would guess it has a problem with the 200 inch distance you have entered for "Return Feed Amount". Try changing that to zero.

Re: How to Update PLC?

If this were an entirely different situation, and you had, for example, a new PLC program source file that was not already in use on your control, and you wanted to have that file on your control, and have it in use, then you would: 1) Copy the new source file plus any supporting files (e.g. plcmsg....
