Re: Z axis has suddenly stopped going forwards (only when running gcode, it goes in both directions when I use the MPG)

Given that now you are presumably getting back to the issue described by the thread's subject line -- having returned from the unrelated digression with the pawn sample program -- it is not unreasonable to continue here. New thread or not: return to the simple turning program you described in your f...

Re: G number to reset G28 location?

There is no G code to do that. There do not appear to be CNC system variables that access it either. Since you are looking at customizing your CNC programs anyway, you could use something other than G28 to retract the tool: - A G0 move referenced to part zero - A G53 move to specific machine coordin...

Re: Acorn ATC input#32 problem

You can tell Windows to always show you the whole filename. Doing so will save a lot of headaches.

See viewtopic.php?f=64&t=4196&p=33895 and scroll down a page or two for instructions.

Re: Spindle will not respond to an M3 command

Sorry, I did not watch your third video all the way through before posting. I see that when you started the spindle in manual mode, you also chose to run it in reverse (CCW). What happens if you run "M4 S1000" in Auto mode? What happens if you try to start it forward (CW) in Manual mode? T...

Re: Spindle will not respond to an M3 command

At 0:47 in your third video, you can see that (once you gave it auto spindle control) OUT14 turned green, and several of the outputs in the range OUT17-OUT28 also turned green. OUT14 is the spindle run relay. OUT17-OUT28 are the 12 bits of your analog spindle speed reference. So the Centroid control...

Re: Potential Acroloc Conversion (Comments Appreciated)

You can certainly put a linear scale on the head travel, and feed that into an additional encoder port on the control. That would at least give you on-screen display of the head position. There are "summing" features in the software which might eventually be useful for combining the scale ...

Re: Z axis has suddenly stopped going forwards (only when running gcode, it goes in both directions when I use the MPG)

To see what is in your CNC program, press F6/Edit. The program you attached (which I have no doubt is exactly as it came with the software) begins: ; ICN_PATH = C:\icn_lath\millimeter\PAWN-MM.LTH ; CNC code generated by Intercon v4.07 Dev Test, Rev 8 ; Description: Without Spindle Encoder ; Programm...

Re: Z axis has suddenly stopped going forwards (only when running gcode, it goes in both directions when I use the MPG)

This is the Gcode screen when the X limit error occurs (picture of screen after limit switch has been tripped) What I had in mind was to look at the Distance to Go display on the screen before the limit switch is tripped and the job is cancelled. Once the error occurs, the Distance to Go is reset t...

Just out of curiosity, what does your copy of PAWN-MM.cnc (which presumably has not been changed since it was installed with v4.63) say on Line 7 / N0001?

Re: Z axis has suddenly stopped going forwards (only when running gcode, it goes in both directions when I use the MPG)

Regarding Z axis home switches, limit switches, and tailstocks: A common setup is to have a separate Z+ home switch, installed at a fixed location on the bed; and a Z+ limit switch mounted on the tailstock. They should be positioned so that, with the tailstock in its normal position at the end of th...
