Re: Wireless MPG wheel stopped working
Since you have already ordered an new one and the old one is sort of scrap this is what I would try. open up the MPG or pull off the hand wheel. Whatever you need to do to access the encoder. Spray some good quality contact cleaner into the encoder and let it dry, Reassemble and see if it works. It'...

Re: Ball screw mapping on a lathe
When a lathe moves 1/2" it removes 1" of material. Could that be why?

The text editor notepad++ has a compare function. You can use it to find out what is different between a new and old installation.

Re: Update on erratic behavior.....
I was actually thinking about that exact thing. Is it common for a drive to go bad? Mine are not that old. They just barely 6 months old and used on average about 6 hours per week. Swapping a drive is an easy and standard way to test something. If the problem follows the drive you have solved your ...

Re: Update on erratic behavior.....
Maybe try swapping a drive to see if the problem moves to another axis. Bill I was actually thinking about that exact thing. Is it common for a drive to go bad? Mine are not that old. They just barely 6 months old and used on average about 6 hours per week. Swapping a drive is an easy and standard ...

Re: Spindle RPM correction
Thanks tblough. I currently don't have an encoder on the milling machine. I have never used it for tapping. When I get home I'll pull off the covers and look into putting on an encoder. It's more work than a floating tap holder but probably wont cost as much as a tapping head. The encoder will proba...

Re: Spindle RPM correction
What is an acceptable deviation that will produce good results when rigid tapping. Obviously no deviation is best but what is a practical limit? Plus or minus 10, 20, 50? My mill is usually about 50 rpm high and is pretty consistent about that. The VFD is an automation direct GS2.

Re: Acorn CNC Free vs Pro
Upgrading the license is just importing the license file. It couldn't be any easier. Put the imported file on the computer then press a few buttons and you are done. I have installed 3 acorns and all 3 got the pro level license within a very short time. Each build provided a reason to upgrade the so...

Re: Acorn CNC12 v4.80 has been released. (8-12-22)
Thanks for the reply Chris. I found a plug in for Notepad++ that lets me compare the original PLC before and after the changes were made to make the turret work. It highlights the changes. Some are straight forward some are in blocks and a little confusing. My question is a lot of the edits are in ...
