C86ACCP Board & 1k Resistors : Clearpaths & Acorn Topic
For those of you who have found success with the CNC4PC C86ACCP board https://www.cnc4pc.com/c86accp-clearpath-connector-board-for-the-acorn-controller.html for their Clearpath motors, if you are running 10'+ cables, how did you go about wiring in the 1k resistors as recommended by Teknic? https://c...

Re: Clearpath HLFB connection to relay
For those using the C86ACCP and longer than 10' cables to your motors, how did you go about adding the 1k resistors that Teknic recommends?

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
I had not put two and two together before! - 'size wire to the breaker, not to the load' Thank you for that and all the other information. I'll only be double tapping (or rather using terminals to distribute) two low current PSUs for my mini PC and PC monitor, both of which are under 2A each max dra...

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
Progress is slow but steady. I've got the basic placement for most of the larger components done.
One of the more formidable things I haven't done is research what AWG belongs where, so that'll be this weeks reading.

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
Question - Is it poor practice to 'double tap' a single breaker with two different PSUs?

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
i like it! 👍 Also wanted to post a UL best practice for other newbs like myself for circuit breaker protection that I found after a few days of searching - I'm sure there are plenty of folks who know this like the back of their hand, but it was big news to me! Aside from the UL 489 and 1077 distinct...

I wish there were a 'like' or thumbs-up feature on this forum. Thanks Marty!martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 9:31 am If the power supply is rated 120-240 its fine. Two hots and a ground. Be sure the power supply does not have a switch you need to flip between 120-240VAC. Most newer ones autosense.

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
So I'm getting some conflicting information. I made a post with the very question about whether you can power DC PSUs that are rated for 240v with hot/hot/ground over at the reddit electrician sub-reddit, and the consensus seems to be that it's just fine. In fact one guy wired his Dell PSU for his l...

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
You're right. The WM RD35B, the Din 24v PSU, and the 2 computer PSUs are all 240v capable, but it has to come in on a single pole (like European 240v plugs). The IPC-5 (yes slightly different wiring configuration) and VFD are 240 (120v hot, 120v hot, ground) capable. In that case Tom I'm going to ha...

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
Unless devices listed at 240V are setup for 1 hot 240v and a neutral, I can't think of any other reason why this setup wouldn't work.
Edit: Maybe that's where I've gone wrong.
