Re: KP-3 Probe Woes

Well Marty, I know you mean no disrespect but you sound like Centroid who accused me of damaging the probe which I did NOT. I take full responsibility for my actions. This probe went right from the Centroid box into the spindle Sunday and was not crashed or damaged in any way. It was just returned t...

Re: KP-3 Probe Woes

I sent this probe back to Centroid and they had it in their possession Nov 15. I did not get it back from them until after Christmas. I followed up along the way with 2 emails and was assured that they were "getting to it". Finally, I posted on the Facebook forum and complained and it got ...

Re: Hardinge TFB conversion to CNC

Can you measure the motors that are on the X and Y now and see if they are a standard NEMA mounting pattern? Maybe you can get a motor to fit in their place. Also, check to see if the current motors have gear heads built in or there is some other gearing in the motor drive train. I don't think they ...

Re: Z-Axis Limits, Will not pass system test

Your home/limit switches are 5.2" apart and the travel limits are set at 5.4". Try setting the travel limits to 5.2" or less. Axis has both minus and plus home switches -Distance between home positions is 5.2000 -Distance between travel limits is 5.4000 -Difference between distances i...

Re: Upgrading 1984 Wells Index 820 with Allin1DC

Finally! Good to hear.

As Marty said, sounds like a parameter is not set correctly. You are getting 4 counts when you should be getting one, and we have no idea what MPG you are using.

Re: Hi Cup DC servo motor kp ki kd

You will never be able to tune them correctly on the bench. Mount them up and then run the tuning routines. Even then it can be a bit hard for the inexperienced, but post any problems and someone should be able to give you guidance.

Re: Jumping Z axis when homing!

. Yeah, I just looked at your video. You are going hard red on the load meter when it hits the switch. It certainly appears to be busting out into oscillation. I feel that the motor needs tuning to eliminate that, just as mine did. Why does the screen say that the Z- limit is tripped when you should...

Re: Jumping Z axis when homing!

See third post down https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=6118&p=53582&hilit=Oscillation#p53582 I had to tune it to get it to work. CNCSNW pointed me to adjust the tuning which ended up correcting the oscillation, and then the jumping. If that doesn’t work, I would just repla...

Re: Jumping Z axis when homing!

Can you repeatedly run axis into switch when not homing with no issues? I had similar problems and it was the servo tuning. The control does an instant reverse when the home switches are triggered and tuning can cause some oscillation.

Re: KP-3 Probe Woes

I emailed Centroid last night and promptly got a response from Scott at 8:00 this morning, excellent customer service as usual. He looked at the video and suspected that there is some dirt inside the unit. He is issuing a RMA and said they will possibly cover it under warranty depending on the exact...
