Re: Switcher box for 2 machines 1 Controller

I suggest unplugging the ACORN from one system and plugging it into the other if your budget is that tight. There are too many potential drawbacks to the proposed method to even contemplate.

Re: Wring up Omron encoder

Blue goes to pin 2.
NC or N/C is "no connection".
DB9 pin 1 is a spare, it has no function.

Re: Fadal Cold Start

"Machine Home at Powerup" "Ref Mark – HS" option moves to the first index pulse it detects when homing from a mark. This allows for homing to the same position after each start up. "Machine Home at Powerup" "Jog" option sets home right where the machine is whe...

Re: Smoothing - Do you use it?

But how much does it impact the final dimensions? The results show on the plot if the proper parameter is set. P229 Backplot/Smoothing mode 0 = Faster Backplot, smoothing may be active but is not shown 1 = Slower Backplot, smoothing effects shown. The plot is not going to show how the final dimensi...

Re: Fanuc servo motors, early red cap.

The drive current is set too high. Current should not be set more than 3 times constant stall current for brushless motors. Do not go higher than the following: 4.1A motor, current setting 41% 2.6A motor, current setting 26% Small motors can heat up fast and fail. AC/DC can quickly turn a 2.6A motor...

Re: 1 Computer 2 acorn boards

The software unlocks are tied to the ACORN board, so you can't use a paid package with a different board. You would have to switch unlock files when changing boards. The IP address is static, so you can't connect both at the same time. You would have to change which Ethernet cable is connected to th...

Re: Fanuc servo motors, early red cap.

I think A06B-0516-B074#7000 is a 5S motor, but with a rare configuration of 1500 RPM instead of 2000 RPM. You could probably get this one working.

A06B-0515-B074#7000 is too small for AC/DC. Turning AC/DC-30 current down that low will reduce current sensor resolution too much to recommend.

Re: Pre-sales technical question

ASDA-B2 can accept step and direction (from ACORN) or AB quadrature (from Oak). If the control can detect position errors (like Oak), it adds some peace of mind. Since not many requirements were listed, I will say either one will do the job.

Re: Spindle encoder with transmission reduction

It will not generate an error if encoder pulses are more or less than expected or if an index pulse is missed or spurious. IF your A/B pulses do not come in in the correct order you will get an error and the spindle will stop! I have an encoder that needs a proper shielded cable installed because i...
