Multiple screws on the same axis can not be independently compensated.

Re: Everything was great until it wasn't

The Vm voltage is higher than I would be comfortable with. ALLIN1DC can provide full Vm (100% duty cycle) to the motors if maximum current is requested. A maximum current move occurs in autotune to measure accel time. I suspect the Anilam drive did not provide full power in order to stay within moto...

Re: Everything was great until it wasn't

Did the previous control have a transformer? The motors indicate 140V maximum, but you have 165VDC bus. This system should have a step down transformer to get 100-120 DC bus for best longevity. Did you rotate the motor with pins shorted as per http://192.168.0.238/tech_bulletin/uploads/155.pdf ? Thi...

Re: What Determines Encoder Signal Voltage?

It is determined by the current output of the line drivers. Usually the line driver IC is some variation of 26LS31 (quad package). The receiving side has a termination resistor that will lower the voltage versus open circuit voltage. The line driver needs sufficient output current to still have the ...

Re: Is my Acorn dead?

The PC ground has to be at the same potential as the ACORN ground. The Ethernet cable shield connects them. If the incident tried to push ACORN potential away from PC GND, there is a ferrite bead on the BeagleBone that may fail. Problem could be something else. It was what came to mind that is close...

Re: Is my Acorn dead?

Are there burn marks near the Ethernet connector? If power feeds back through the Ethernet shield or chassis ground, damage may occur.

Re: The Hickory CNC controller is now available.

Beautiful, thank you! Can I ask what you figured out about the EL8 drive showing discontinuities in the error plot like it is losing position? It seems to need a full power cycle after some parameter changes in the Motion Studio software (even if not indicated in the parameter description). When in...

Re: 411 Full power without motion

Did you do the motor checks in TB155? In particular, turning the motor shaft with windings shorted? https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersupport/tech_bulletins/uploads/155.pdf This test will reveal bad commutator segments through rough motion as the shaft is turned. I would expect this test to show any...
