If your laser is always at a known offset from your spindle when attached, look into using G52 for the XY offset, then you can set the Z after that part. Always remember to cancel the G52 when done. Ohhhh, yeah yeah.....I know those parameters. I'll investigate into it more. I'll read through the documentation and see if there's anything that relates to the main DRO displays background colors.
