Re: C-Axis Homing to Spindle Encoder Pulse

Ok. That is not the answer I was expecting. I'm talking about detecting the index pulse of the spindle encoder connected to the Acorn DB9 port, not a ZRI from a servo driver. What Acorn input do I need to monitor to see the DB9 index pulse?

C-Axis Homing to Spindle Encoder Pulse

I'm dreaming of implementing a c-axis on my lathe. I have parts on hand to do a DMM Servo --> strain wave gear reduction --> electromagnetic clutch --> timing belt --> spindle. The clutch will decouple the c-axis drive (and its encoder) during turning ops, so to orient the part for c-axis machining ...

Hardinge Accuslide Retrofit

Since there are a few similar builds from various forum members going on right now, I thought I would post a little about mine. It is a Hardinge DSM with (I think) a relatively early Accuslide CNC conversion. I acquired it already converted from the old Fagor control to a PlanetCNC control with Lead...

Re: Harding AHC Accuslide Acorn Conversion

Good project! I'm wrapping up a Hardinge Accuslide conversion and I'm very pleased with how it's turning out.

Re: ColletOpenClose vs. OpenChuck Outputs

Thanks Keith! My lathe uses a Dunham collet closer so this information is exactly what I need.

Re: ColletOpenClose vs. OpenChuck Outputs

Thank you for the tips. I see the "TurnClampOn" output has been removed from the wizard and "ColletOpenClose" has been added but is not documented. Does anyone know if this was just a name change or are they different functions? When I assign an output to "ColletOpenClose&qu...

ColletOpenClose vs. OpenChuck Outputs

I'm trying to setup a pneumatic collet closer on a lathe. I just need to toggle a single solenoid to open/close it and there are no open/closed sensors for feedback. I see "ColletOpenClose" output in the wizard but I can't find anything about it in the CNC12 or VCP documentation. Is there ...

Re: First Project | proLIGHT | Acorn Conversion

My 2000 also has round linear rails (Thomson, I think). I think the main difference between the 1000 and 2000 was the 1000 had open loop steppers and the 2000 had DC brushed servos w/ 1000 line encoders. These are solid small machines.

Re: First Project | proLIGHT | Acorn Conversion

I've done an Acorn retrofit on a PLM-2000 with DMM DYN2 and .4KW NEMA23 motors. Works great! I sold the original steppers but I have a copy of the original spec sheet which lists the axis motors as 50 oz-in (attached). They were all the same size on my machine. No z-axis brake or counterweight is us...
