Upgrading from open loop steppers.. DMM DYN4 or Clearpath?
As the subject says, I've decided to upgrade my 5' x 8' CNC router from open loop Chinese steppers to either DMM DYN4 AC (86N-DHT-A6MD1) servo/DYN4 drive and or Clearpath DC (CPM-SDSK-3432S-RLN) servos. I have suggested replacements from both manufacturers. The price is within $100 of each other, so...

Re: Limit switches are tripping randomly during machine operation
Marty, Thank you so much for the reply! I have not come across best practice type of stuff for CNC machines in my travels yet. I will transition to NC switches. I think the direction I want to go is an inductive proximity sensor from Automation Direct with M12 connectors. When I removed the covers f...

Re: CNC12 v4.14?
It’s well documented in another thread but no acknowledgement by Centroid. That’s why I’m asking. http://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=2193&start=20 It sure looks like I’m having the same problem. Not the point of this thread though. I have a thread about my random limit tripping.

Re: CNC12 v4.14?
Please don’t interpret my asking as criticism. I was a software engineer in a former life. It appears a software issue is poking its head on my machine. I was wondering if it’s planned to be addressed in the next release and if there’s an anticipated release time frame because I may wait to do a dif...

Re: Limit switches are tripping randomly during machine operation
Michael- Thank you for the reply. I'm not seeing anywhere that Centroid has taken this as a bug to be fixed in your thread.
Still not buying the NO contact is somehow noise sensitive vs NC contact. I am using 24vdc in the Omron proximity switches.

Re: Acorn to DMM DYN4 - Differential Line Driver Board
Making sure I’m following.. this differential driver is needed(?) for noise issues in the step/direction signals between Acorn and DYN4 drive?

Re: Limit switches are tripping randomly during machine operation
I'm not really worried about fail safe right now. This leaves me wondering why a NC contact/switch/circuit is "less prone to interference"... The CNC12 issue mentioned on page two of this thread hasn't really been discussed.. Does anyone know for sure if this is a bug in CNC12? Check with ...

Re: Multiple DMM ZRI marker / index signals to a single Acorn input
Are you connecting to the db9 to get the ZRI signal to the acorn board?

Re: Limit switches are tripping randomly during machine operation
Russ. I understand how a fail safe circuit works. Thank you for clarifying the application. I was able to get the machine running well by changing the inputs to HomeOk vs HomeOkLimitOk (or whatever they call it). I found a NC version of the limit switches on my machine. Starting to think about switc...
