Re: encoder and motors
or install a new encoder that works with Acorn:-) That's the plan now. I was looking for a way to save a him a few hundred bucks. That being said, he already wasted 300 bucks on a 20 year old computer that would support an AHA card. His lathe has been down for a month now and it's part of his busin...

encoder and motors
So, my friend is asking me to build him a controller for an old lathe. I'm trying to save him as much as I can and use the exisitng parts as much as possible. His existing encoder is 5 wires, but all the Acorn encoders I've seen are 8 on a DB9. Is there a way to adapt? His motors are old powerpac Bi...

Re: DP 4 wiring
The DP-4 manual http://www.centroidcnc.com/downloads/dp4_probe_manual.pdf shows the wiring of the probe. Perhaps you can figure out your wire colors from where they connect on the probe's Lemo connector. I, for some reason, couldn't find that. I believe I can figure it out with what you provided. I...

Re: DP 4 wiring
I reached out to Centroid.... The wire was damaged, hence the new connector. A guy named Scott recommended that the wire shouldn't have been cut(200.00 for a new cable. I never had the bulkhead connector, so..another 150.00 for that?). When I asked for help regarding what colors go to the Acorn, his...

DP 4 wiring
I have an older DP 4 and the wire colors don't match up with the schematics. I had it working until my board fried and was RMA'd, but I neglected to take notes. What is missing here seems to be the WHITE wire. Any help would be appreciated...

Re: Buy the WMPG...!
You stepped on the USB receiver, the antennae is easy to replace ;) Uwe Not quite.. It was stuck on the side of my cabinet and got hit somehow. I stepped on the antennae and then proceeded to discard it all before checking with Centroid. My fault... that being said, the fact that both I AND Centroi...

Re: The AcornSix CNC controller kit has been released!
If you don't work in tenths, and work with wood and plastic, the you don't need scales at all. The point being is the Acorn is a micrometer, and you want to add a tape measure adjust it's position to machine material that grows by fractions of inches when the humidity changes. Except that it would ...

Re: The AcornSix CNC controller kit has been released!
If the Acorn is already controlling movement with 0.1 micron precision, why would you want to add 4.9 microns of error? Because I don't work in tenths and 5 micron's are less expensive and easier to source? I can get tape and 5 micron readers for my 40x60 Router/Mill for about 320 dollars. The best...
