Re: Loading from a USB CNC10

It will help to set Machine Parameter 4 to a value of 5.0, so that it shows the "advanced" version of the file menu, as well as automatically importing files loaded from outside the control. Not all USB devices will work with the Linux system. If you can find one, use a SanDisk Cruzer of 1...

Re: Travel / Limit / Home switches

Sounds good. Be aware that the software limits won't work perfectly if some other issue (e.g. the noise resulting from powering the drives with 240VAC) is causing you to lose position. At 0.002" per pass, it would take quite a while before you lose position to the point that you overrun the lim...

Re: M-15 Training in Minnesota

Alternately, if the hard drive in the "mill" control is still good, you could either install it in the "router" control (which is on the mill) and get the correct configuration and parameters that way. You would just need to re-enter the software unlock codes from the router cont...

Re: Travel / Limit / Home switches

It is a bad idea to try to use the same sensor or switch as both the plus and minus limit. The control software does not attempt to determine which direction an axis might have been moving then the switch came to be tripped: it just prohibits moving towards a tripped switch. So if you designate the ...

Re: M-15 Training in Minnesota

Assuming we are still talking about K4849, then WildBilly's previous posts indicate that the machine has no real limit switches installed. In this case, the only way to run is with the limits defeated via the DIP switches. At some point, pulling a Report and posting the resulting "CNC7CFG.TXT&q...

Re: Travel / Limit / Home switches

Maybe Keith or Marty can jump in here. My experience is entirely with closed-loop systems (Oak, All-in-one DC and their predecessors). The question: can you have one input, with three normally-closed limit switches in series, that is the limit (and home) for X-, Y+ and Z+; then have a second input, ...

Re: How to disable comp look ahead?

You cannot "disable lookahead" in cutter comp. Cutter comp needs to look ahead at least one move in order to do its job. You can change the number of lines that it looks ahead, via Parameter 99. That has to do with interference checking, and may apply to your situation if you have moves th...
