Re: Program eratic after a tool change Lathe

Philip, Try running a copy of the program, with all of the feedrates changed to comparable time-based (mm/min) rates (G98 mode). There are different accel/decel rules in play with feed-per-minute vs. feed-per-revolution. Running the same part in feed-per-minute may show you whether it is dropping st...

Re: NEW Atrump Retrofit Project.

No, I do not have a web page dedicated to the B5AC retrofits. You would re-use the main power switch; the large transformer; the servo power rectifier and capacitor; the emergency stop contactor; the flood coolant pump starter (contactor + overload); the VFD, spindle motor and spindle encoder; and t...

Re: Program eratic after a tool change Lathe

What does this program look like on the graphic preview (F8/Graph) display?

Do programs that you wrote prior to last week still run correctly?

Re: Rigid Tapping Setup

Either your actual spindle speed is bouncing around erratically, or your spindle encoder is giving erratic readings. If the spindle speed really is bouncing around erratically, that could be due to noise or distortion on the analog command signal; or it could instability or control problems in the s...

If you want to set bit 1 of parameter 11-00 -- which means to set the parameter to a value of 2 -- and it is displayed as "0000h", then you would change it to display as "0002h".

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

Servo drive logic power must remain on all the time. Otherwise, as you noted, you will get EtherCAT communication faults on a Hickory system, or you will lose axis position (and get an encoder differential error) on Oak, OpticDirect or GPIO4D systems. If your drives lack a separate input for logic p...

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

We run the PC <--> MPU ethernet cable through the console conduit, along with 120VAC power, emergency stop, jog panel, MPG cable, etc. all the time. Not a problem.

Just keep it away from motor power leads that come from a frequency drive or servo drive. Those are your biggest source of noise.

Re: Interfacing Haas 5C indexer to ALLIN1DC

All Centroid controls for the past 30 years have used the same pinout for a DE9 encoder connection: Pin 1 = n/c Pin 2 = 0VDC (COM) Pin 3 = /Z Pin 4 = /A Pin 5 = /B Pin 6 = Z Pin 7 = A Pin 8 = B Pin 9 = +5V (Vcc) That pinout can be found on nearly any Centroid control wiring diagram. Given the wire c...

Re: DC3IO manuals, schematics, how to

The computer with CPU7 board and, apparently, hard disk drive is a step in the right direction.

So are the jog pendant and the encoder cable(s).

The CPU7 board connects to the DC3IO with five optical fibers. If they are missing, you can get replacements from Centroid.
