Re: Wireless MPG Pendant Question
The mechanical click is caused by a spring and detent somewhere inside the MPG encoder handwheel. If you are a bit of a sportsman and don't mind potentially voiding the warranty, you could try to take it apart and remove the spring. It won't alter the resolution but would give you the "smooth&q...

Re: Hobbyist Mill Conversion - Reasonable Accuracy
Adjusting the cutter comp and setting backlash values is one way to frig the results but ultimately minimising mechanical backlash in the mechanism should always be your first step. I'd recommend you use Swissi's Probe App to tell you what your mechanism is capable of. As Uwe says, careful setup and...

Re: VFD Safety
I'm not familiar with Stepperonline products but they seem to offer 2 VFDs (H100, B600). The H100 seems to be less expensive and comes with STO. Would that be a simpler solution? https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/download/H1_Series_Inverter_Full_User_Manual.pdf https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/h100...

Re: What coolant for water cooled HY spindle?
I have worked in the automotive for several decades. Engine coolant is almost invariably water glycol in the ratio 50:50 or very close. It's perfectly suitable for use in all engines with cast iron, steel, aluminum, whatever. The different colourants and descriptions ("racing") are of no s...

Re: Bummer... Intel stopping NUC computer production
On one of my Acorn systems I have a pre-owned Lenovo M700 mini PC, on the other I have a Chinesium NUC clone https://www.gmktec.com/products/amd-ryzen%E2%84%A2-5-5600u-mini-pc-nucbox-9 . They cost about the same but the NucBox 9 is more powerful and comes with W11 Pro. I can't say it's been formally...

Re: A (4th axis) homing
For when I use my 4th axis, I have disabled the 4th axis homing in the .HOM file, otherwise it will sit spinning forever. As Keith says, you can set home manually.

There's another Weiler rescue going on not far from you. Looks like a different model and it's going the Linuxcnc route.

Re: TT to measure tool diamter
Indeed - and it would be really nice if this could be automated as part of the automated tool setting macros. It seems unlikely that there would be enough demand to justify it but if we didn't suggest it, our interest would never be noted.

Re: TT to measure tool diamter
That would be of interest to me too. I have a TSR27 tool probe that is able to measure diameter as well as tool length. Perhaps one for the wish list?

Re: Using cell phone to update CNC computer
If your PC has wifi, you can create a mobile wifi hotspot with your smart phone and tether your PC to it - this gives you the same result but saves having to use cables etc.
