Re: Jog or feed at any angle.
This would be a great feature. I'm about to do some finishing cuts on a lathe spindle nose where a manual feed combined with synchronised X/Z gearing would be my preferred approach. Instead I am planning on using the G90 taper cutting command and tool wear compensation to sneak up on it.

Re: If you were to get a mill and convert it to CNC, what would you get?
CNC is brilliant for making multiple copies of things, but for making one of something, especially something that needs only simple inexact operations, not so much. There are many parts you simply couldn't make on a manual machine, even as a one-off. Placing features precisely and without error, cr...

Re: File Does Not Have An App Associated With It
Alternatives are Brackets (the default used by Fusion) or Microsoft Visual Studio Code, both of which are free and come with helpful extensions for g code etc. VSC is particularly useful if you ever need to edit your Fusion post processor, as it also has Javascript extension and post processor simul...

Re: Which Centroid controller for Bridgeport Interact?
My DC motors are SEM MT30R4-46, so very similar. The 46 runs to 3000rpm; the 58 is limited to 2500rpm otherwise they have the same torque rating. As for the encoder resolution, IIRC, mine are 1000 lines. With a 5mm pitch, this results in a nominal resolution of almost 1um, yet very few machines are ...

Re: Which Centroid controller for Bridgeport Interact?
You really need to use the MPG to make the most of the Acorn in my view, in which case you get full manual control. I often use the MPG to manually square off stock, drill and tap one off holes etc. As for the "old motors" concern, my Shizuoka is 1983 vintage. Works fine. The std encoders ...

Re: Which Centroid controller for Bridgeport Interact?
Another option would be to use a step/dir driver for your brushed motors and use Acorn controls. This is what I did on my Shizuoka AN-SB. Works fine and avoided having to swap out any of the motors, belts etc. I used the DG4S-16035 servo drive from CNC Drives DG4S-16035 servo drive . I believe there...

Re: DMM servos, seeing 90 VAC on the noise filter case
EMC filters generally include Y caps between each phase and ground - these are particularly effective for dealing with high frequency common mode noise. These form a capacitive divider, so if the ground connection isn't made, the case will be held between the phase voltages. You don't need a high im...

Re: DMM servos, seeing 90 VAC on the noise filter case
Could do with more info. What supply voltage are you using? Some photos would help. What is this filter? If you leave the filter ground floating you'd expect the case to measure somewhere between the live and neutral voltages. Neutral is usually near ground potential unless you are running between t...

I got an email reply from him on 6th Oct - said he was having a busy time. My first email didn't arrive with him, so most likely you had a similar spam filter issue.

Re: Acorn 10V analog output wonky (Resolved, and not what you thought)
These Chinese VFDs always seem to skip over any requirement for an EMC filter on the AC input, yet they are not magically able to avoid generating significant switching noise during operation. As a matter of good practice, VFDs should be fitted with a decent quality filter, rather than try to figure...
