Should I add additional electrical grounds?

I'm putting components into my electrical cabinet now and am thinking about electrical ground wiring. It's possible I'm not considering something but the schematic for the acorn board only has a ground connection between the power supply and the board itself. Is this intended to be the ground for al...

Re: Converting digitized files for editing.

I'll tag along here. I'm interested in the digitizing software upgrade but there doesn't seem to be much out there on youtube besides Centroids 'horse' digitizing. Even then the process ends there, I'd like to see something from Centroid showing how easy/challenging it is to pick a random widget, di...

Re: I just found out my servo drivers are analog +10/-10 v What are my options?

Marty: I didn't realize an encoder was so expensive. As luck would have it, I found a pretty nice wire EDM machine at my local scrap yard and pulled a bunch of useful looking parts off of it last year. I pulled a driver servo motor with this model of encoder on it https://www.ebay.com/itm/HEIDENHAIN...

Re: I just found out my servo drivers are analog +10/-10 v What are my options?

I have a long history of doing just that and making simple projects turn into way overbuilt and over-engineered beasts unfortunately. I guess RPM wise an induction motor will get me about 3600 RPM whereas the DMM servo I was looking at is 3000 RPM (limiting myself to an approximately 1hp (0.75kw) se...

Re: I just found out my servo drivers are analog +10/-10 v What are my options?

Marty, we need to sit down and talk with the Centroid staff about putting you on their payroll lol. Thanks for asking around and thinking on a solution. The idea of replacing the spindle motor and drive has grown a little on me. Of the choices of a cheaper DMM servo setup vs. a 3phase and VFD combo ...

Re: I just found out my servo drivers are analog +10/-10 v What are my options?

Hi Marty, I'm not sure how to make this forum post better images. Here is a link to my unlocked google drive though https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PLakZ2pmuNU16TiF6XNDT1N9AEJTJBLO?usp=sharing with a couple more pictures of the connections that can be zoomed in on. Thank you for looking at t...

Here are the motor and cable connections for the spindle motor. What kinda information can you tell by the connectors? dm2800 spindle motor conectors.jpg dm2800 spindle motor cable conectors.jpg Just realized these are not what you were asking for, I'll hook the ends to the old drive in a sec and ta...

Re: I just found out my servo drivers are analog +10/-10 v What are my options?

These DM2800 mills were made in the 90's, so yes everything is about 20 years old. I did find one inspection sticker on one of the electrical components dated 1997 so I'm pretty sure that was the manufacturing year as I think the company shut down shortly after that if remember right. I think I was ...

Re: I just found out my servo drivers are analog +10/-10 v What are my options?

I'm going through looking at the options you guys have posted slowly. Has anyone dealt with viperservo.com out of Canada before? They make a servo drive that would work as well as a $90 step/direction to analog converter that would allow me to use my current configuration supposedly. http://032c30a....
