Re: 8000 RPM Spindle Encoder
I am using a <40 buck SF-encoder with 400 lines on my mill up to 8300rpm It is rated only to 6000rpm, but seems to have ok bearings on the 8mm shaft and the electronics are fast enough with 400 lines. Tested rigid tapping up to 3000 rpm with no problems https://www.rocketronics.de/shop/en/increment...

Re: 8000 RPM Spindle Encoder
Could you just use a 6000 rpm encoder but run it on a 1:2 pulley reduction?

Re: What low profile tool setter options are there out there?
That Metrol one is a perfect size. I've never used a tool setter before, does the touch off pad need to be larger than your tool? 5mm sounds really small, if I measure a 3/8" or 1/2" end mill with it will I get accurate results? Or is it only a matter of visually aligning the tool cutter e...

What low profile tool setter options are there out there?
I'm looking for suggestions on a low profile tool setter (under 3"), does anyone have a good one they can recommend? I've looked at the TT-4, it's a bit pricey and is pretty tall for my limited z height. I could probably measure most all my milling cutters with it, but most drillbits would be p...

Re: Is anyone familiar with EMG Precision tool setters?
I've already been threw the buyers remorse on impulse buying this thing a long time ago when I suspected it wouldn't work lol. Maybe I can sell it and make up a little bit of money? Another disappointment was the manual is a whole 12 pages long with cover sheets... Here's a link to it if anyone's cu...

Is anyone familiar with EMG Precision tool setters?
A while back ago I found a company called EMG Precision that made a nice looking low profile tool setter ( https://emgprecision.com/sprite10-touch-off-tool-zero-setter-for-cnc-z-axis/ ). Was wondering if there was anyone out there that had successfully wired up one of their tool touch probes to Acor...

Re: Will the software let me jog the machine past the limit switches when setup?
I'll have to think on the axis orientation some. It looks like my screen resolution was set to 1920x1080, my default display setting made it zoom in 125% though, I changed it. I'm also on a laptop, it was free so that's what I used lol. My steps/rev definitely are right. It's an oddball dynamite bra...

Re: Will the software let me jog the machine past the limit switches when setup?
Took a minute to get back sorry, this mill is kinda a part time part time project lol. I attached what I think is the report file, that was my first time doing that it's possible I selected the wrong thing. My mill is a late 80's retrofit, I used the old mechanical normally open limit switches becau...

Will the software let me jog the machine past the limit switches when setup?
So a thing happened. I set up my limit switches and told the wizard my x, y, z travel limits the machine is capable of, and then homed it on startup. I got a little carried away with testing out the handheld pendant with the new limit switches and travel limits, which seemed to work right as they sh...

Re: metric thread pitch to SAE question
Thank you! Now that I see it I feel a little dumb for not initially knowing how to do the conversion lol. I guess I'm not 100% positive it's a 2.5mm pitch ballscrew, the companies out of business and I got that info from a very knowlegble ex-employee. Now that you have me questioning it I'll measure...
