Re: PLC Program For Emco PC Turn 55 (using original turret board and motor) <Success>

I just want to clarify on the operation of the turret homing. When initially installed, the Centroid control has no idea where the turret is so an M18 needs to be issued in order to find tool 1. Initially, since the tool information gets set to 0 when power to the ACORN is removed, when the CNC12 s...

Re: PLC Program For Emco PC Turn 55 (using original turret board and motor) <Success>

Watch Keith's video: https://youtu.be/4Ik3gFMh8kU LOL...I did...several times already. I've been testing the accuracy of the dual homing and so far, it seems accurate enough to set my tooling based on home. My tool 1 is a 10mm hole, so very easy to check it. It's a really tight fit on a drill shank...

Re: PLC Program For Emco PC Turn 55 (using original turret board and motor) <Success>

Shooting for tomorrow provided I can figure out how to do it....LOL. Got all my tools cut to size last night. Everything fits and lining up good. Now just need to learn how to work with lathe software versus mill software. Things are very different than what I'm used to using.

Yup Marty, that is correct because we couldn't get the tool position to save after a shutdown in all circumstances.

Re: PLC Program For Emco PC Turn 55 (using original turret board and motor) <Success>

Ok, wasn't thinking.....LOL. Forgot to just hit reset twice and then all is back to normal if you fault the turret. Anyway, I've played with this code lathe turret enough to feel pretty good that it will work fine. Mario ran some Gcode that just did a bunch of turret moves and it worked fine. We tes...

Re: Lathe Reference Tool Questions

Sorry, I tend to unwind from work with a few barley pops and sometimes get carried away with them. I do know the frustration with learning a new control. We, my son who is a gunsmith have loved the Centroid control as we have had the lathe since 2011 and love the ability to re run the threading cyc...

Re: PLC Program For Emco PC Turn 55 (using original turret board and motor)

As for in/outs, it's all assigned in the PLC, as you don't have inputs/outputs in the wizard to do these functions yet. The code is well documented, so rather than making a huge post, easiest thing to do is simply download the report file and extract the acorn_incremental-turret-r3.src out to read ...

Re: Lathe Reference Tool Questions

Hi Dave, This I can help you with it is covered in chapter 4 page 2 in the 3.16 cnc11 manual Tool Orient: This is the tool operation direction, which generally describes the direction in which the tool points. It also implies the orientation of the work surface. Choices here are OD (outer diameter)...

Lathe Reference Tool Questions

Finally getting around to setting up my tooling in prep for my new turret tools that arrive Wednesday. So I'm setting up Tool 1, my reference tool for the turret and notice there's no option for any forward facing tools? No matter how I take loose and replace my tool holder on the turret, it wil alw...

Re: Quick Tip: IF you have Home/Limit Switches, here is an example and description on setting them up

Great. Can you post your home file for your PC Turn 50 and your final report if all done? Or are you tying up loose ends yet? I decided to wait on the proper tooling to fit my turret before running the full test out (they come in this Wed). So I'd rather wait to post my full report after that. I'm ...
