hello. yes since adding new features specific to Acorn in CNC12, the low level software running those features rely on built in Windows 10 capabilities. This is also true for the rest of the Centroid CNC controller line up (Oak, and Allin1DC based systems running CNC12) fyi...if you have a windows 7...

1) Is it dangerous to the board to connect it to a Win7 PC that is possibly below the minimum specs listed? It will be used for testing purposes with only simple linear moves to set the stepper drive & motor tuning. No complex moves whatsoever. << the CNC12 software is not compatible with window...

hello. you certainly can use the dropping resistors to knock the 24 vdc down to 5vdc to power the drive logic . that is perfectly acceptable. however meanwell 5 vdc logic power supplies are inexpensive. and its nice to not have anything else connected to the 24 VDC logic power going to the Acorn boa...
