Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn
Hi Clay, You bring up some good points that deserve some further clarification. The section of the ClearPath manual that you posted is specifically regarding the connecting and disconneting of power cables. The purpose of this sequence is to prevent the arc (spark) when a live connection is made (o...

Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn
Was there any follow on to this suggestion to tie the e-stop contactor to the input of the IPC-5 - on the face of it this seems to make sense, and the 24V backup voltage would still allow the drive logic to keep the location? I am unsure why you would want to power off the IPC-5 vs. just disconnect...

Re: Probe on an ATC rack
Hey all, check this out, I put a probe on my ATC rack. The probe needs a cable connected to it to work properly, and I modified my M6 macro to protect me from accidentally changing the tool with the cable still attached, this is how it works: https://photos.app.goo.gl/LB6V635eLTsC1S646 Hopefully th...

Re: AVID PRO Router with Retracting ATC Rack
Looks great! Thanks for sharing! I have an ether 1616 ready for a build but don’t have the room in my panel. I am actually thinking of having it in a totally separate enclosure. I would need to run a few signal cables from the VFD to the second enclosure, but the could have things like extra contact...

Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn
Marty Sorry. I missed that when I first starting looking at this thread. I'm in the process of converting my mill over to Teknic ClearPath servo motors. I was motivated by struggling with missed steps on my Z-axis and your recent project on YouTube. Thank you. Britt If you are using Clearpath, you ...

Re: New Centroid Teknic Clearpath officially supported configurations
I wanted to share my experience with the acorn/clearpath sdsk servos just in case there is anyone out there following this string. I've been using the setup (with no resistors per the wiring diagram released october 21st 2019, version 2) for a few months now, just running test cuts (ect.) and i hav...

Re: C Axis milling with the Acorn
The rotary table on the 3D printer is just a gimmick. You can to all that with normal X/Y moves. I don't disagree with you. I only provided that as an example to show an example of the kinematics I'm looking at. However in my intended implementation I won't have have X and Y axis, I'll only have Z,...

Re: Teknic Power4-Hub
Here are a few pictures of the cables I received. I noticed the cut insulation first, which probably caused me to scrutinize the cables and crimps more carefully. The electrical connection crimps appear to be solid. These aren't issues I'd spend time contacting Teknic over because I can simply cut b...

Re: C Axis milling with the Acorn
Thanks for the replies. 1st, I just realized that this is probably a factor of the post-processor in my cam software more than it is. I don't see any reason that Acorn couldn't control the system provided it can drive a Z, X, and C axis accurately. Which as far as I know it can without issue. As lon...
