Re: Tree Journeyman 425 mill retrofit
First decide on what axis is what. The Z axis is your spindle and Z up, away from the work is Z+. You then decide which axis you want to call X. X+ and X-, and Y+ and Y- directions are then determined by the right hand rule. With the axis names and directions determined. You home the table where eve...

Re: CNC manual combo machine
To run you machine as seen in the videos, you will need to use either an AllIn1DC, or Oak. All three axis motors need to encoder feedback to the control (not just the drive), and you will need a glass scale on the Z axis (Yyou do not need glass scales on X or Y and this does not require the "sc...

Re: Tree Journeyman 425 mill retrofit
Have a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=64&t=3638
Centroid doesn't "want" the machine in any particular way. You have to decide the way you want it and then tell CNC12 how you have set it up.

Re: Tapping Threads -- Question re 115 VAC VFD
Oops. That was my mistake. I forgot we were talking about a lathe. That image is from Intercon Mill and you are correct that Intercon Lathe does not have a peck option.
@CNCKeith - is there a reason why Intercon Lathe doesn't have a peck tapping cycle? Or are bruiz and I missing something?

Re: Tapping Threads -- Question re 115 VAC VFD
If "increment" is less than depth, then it will peck tap.

BTW, McMaster sells machinable wax in small pieces - Thu Feb 06, 2020 12:52 pm

Re: Tapping Threads -- Question re 115 VAC VFD
Best material for testing is machinable wax. If you can peck tap (i.e. re-enter the same thread multiple times) a fine thread in wax without destroying the top thread, you've got everything set correctly. Plastics deflect where was is brittle.

Re: Bridgeport Series 1 retrofit
I believe Centroid sells a 2000VA transformer DC Servo Motor Power Supply 220 VAC to 117 DC volts $1140. VA rating should be the same even though you are looking for a 120VAC/170VDC solution. I used a 2400VA 220VAC to 120VAC transformer I found on eBay.

Re: LINEAR encoder
If every thing else is working, just implement ball screw error compensation and that will take care of the errors in a rolled ball screw.
