SOP machine tool building: get basic motion working before introducing the complexities of an ATC.
get Z and X moving and calibrated, homing working, spindle working etc. etc.. the entire machine execpt for the ATC.... then and only then introduce the ATC plc program, additional axes , etc.etc.

if you plan on using Acorn, make sure the Delta drive model supports step and direction input. many Acorn machines are using delta's, they work well. most of their models support step and direction. a few rare ones do not, look up the model feature set on the delta website to be sure. related. https...
