Re: Shuttle Express & Feed Hold problems

Does your external feed hold button have a normally-open contact, or a normally-closed contact? The standard PLC logic for "FeedHold2" requires a normally-open contact (on the Alt-i screen it should be red when idle, green when the button is pressed). If you have a normally-closed contact...

Shuttle Express & Feed Hold problems

Good morning all, I am having problems with the Shuttle Express and the Feed Hold Button (along with a few other things too but saving that for a different discussion). I recently added physical Cycle start and Feed Hold buttons, configured both with the Wizard, verified both switches work by lookin...

Re: Using the Acorn encoder input for a different purpose...

It's easy to make it not do something. The question is, what do you want it to do instead? Whatever that is, you may be able to read a system variable in the PLC (like 27301-27308) to perform your new function. I'm sure you will have to dig deeper than the wizard to do something non-standard. I wil...

Using the Acorn encoder input for a different purpose...

Greetings all, I notice that there is an encoder input with the intended function to be used with the spindle and for spindle feedback. I have no need what so ever on my machine for this purpose, however, I would like to use that encoder input and related registers for another purpose. Is it possibl...

Up and running - not so difficult

Greetings all, I recently decided to move on from MACH3 to Acorn so I purchased all the items (Acorn, Ether1616, Shuttle express, new computer, touch screen monitor etc), built and wired up a new control cabinet and all the fun stuff. It really didn't take very long to do, and getting familiar with ...

Each Home/Limit switch on its own input - possible? (Resolved)

Good morning all, I am moving right along with my Re-Control from MACH 3 to Centroid Acorn. Got almost all the bits and pieces needed and am starting the changeover. My machine is a router - 3 axes. I only have Home switches on the machine (used also for limit) so I have 1 switch on each end of the ...

Re: More questions about Acorn and pulling the trigger today

Good news! Automation Technologies called me to let me know their shipment came in so I ran over there to pick up the ACORN today. Got it up and running in "Bench Test" mode - all looks good. I am a little suspect on what I bought though. The package appeared to be opened and then resealed...

Re: More questions about Acorn and pulling the trigger today

The micro controller is used to control one of the stepper motors used in the tool changer system. The micro communicates with the stepper controller to set the current of the driver and thus, the power of the motor.
