Don't feel bad, I didn't even look for where the battery was. I just gave it to the grandkid and he located the battery in less than 30 seconds...
But a 5 year old can break just about anything open.

Re: New Build: PM-30MV ClearPath Acorn
I couple of things to think about, I went with a PM25MV added a power drawbar and Tormach TTS holders. Now I am looking at a way to get higher spindle speeds. The FM30F would get me out of several problems (power drawbar, almost 10X the speed, speed control, encoder/encoder mounting and more torque)...

Re: Ridged Tapping vs Tread Milling, Do I really need an Encoder
Thanks for the responses, I don't that a Precision Mathews PM25MV won't tap without snapping the tap. But to change Tom's quote slightly, Confidence is the feeling I have until the tap breaks. I will give it a try on a scrap piece.

Re: Ridged Tapping vs Tread Milling, Do I really need an Encoder
I agree that tapping it is faster than tread milling, but most of what I do is 2-56 and 4-40 thread (easy to break when not a through hole) . The higher spindle speed would speed up about everything else I do on the mill.

Re: Ridged Tapping vs Tread Milling, Do I really need an Encoder
Thanks Tom, that is what I thought. The mill has a tachometer on the side of the mill and the cam will gives feed per tooth. It seem that most seemed to really want ridged tapping on the small bench top mill that are not always easy to install (also can be expensive). Now I have to find the right mo...

Ridged Tapping vs Tread Milling, Do I really need an Encoder
I have been using a PM25MV with acorn for a while now, when I built it I installed an encoder to allow for ridged tapping, but I have been afraid of using ridged tapping because the deceleration / direction reversing time seem to long. So I have been using tread milling instead (mostly for 4-40 trea...

Re: Issues with tool paths - Fusion 360 to Centroid totally diffrent
The picture of the F360 part has the X and Z wrong in the setup. Z should be towards or away from the chuck. X is the cross slide.

Thanks Keith, it looks great. Hope that I can afford it when it is released.

Re: 2 Acorn Boards, one WMPG
I think that a USB switch would work if the computers are not too far apart. Search for USB Switch on Amazon, most will allow 2 computers to attach to 2 to 4 usb devices, such as the rf antenna and maybe a thumb drive for storage of files etc.
