Re: Dyn4 to Acorn cable - Why not utilize the Dyn4’s internal 5v power supply ?
Jake, On DMM's web storefront I found this: 20180817_1517291_resized_s_large.jpg I wanted a bit more length and DMM said they were only offered in the 1m length. I found this schematic on DMM's website. Thanks. Yeah, I have that one diagram. Its almost sufficient in that it shows the basic wiring b...

Re: Dyn4 to Acorn cable - Why not utilize the Dyn4’s internal 5v power supply ?
Why not use the cables that DMM makes to connect to Acorn? FOLLOW THE SCHEMATICS provided by either Centroid or DMM is my suggestion. Anything else is at your risk.... Marty Is the DMM schematic posted anywhere ? I need a longer cable so I need to make my own. Also, the DMM flying lead cable does n...

Dyn4 to Acorn cable - Why not utilize the Dyn4’s internal 5v power supply ?
Wouldn’t the Acorn to Dyn4 cabling be simplified if we utilized the Dyn4’s built in 5v power supply. It negates the need for an external 5vdc power supply ( or 24vdc with 2k ohm resistors ). Is there a technical reason why the dyn4’s internal 5v power supply isn’t utilized ? The DYN4 manual shows on...

Re: Hooking Up An Automation Direct GS3 VFD to Acorn
Enclosed is a picture of my GS3 VFD settings. I'd say 95% are the default settings. Some are specific to my motor which have a dashed border. I included a picture of my motors name plate for reference but some of the settings in 0.xx are created by the auto tune feature of the Automation Direct GS3 ...

Re: Hooking Up An Automation Direct GS3 VFD to Acorn
Hi Brian, Tonight I'll be able to turn on the VFD and check settings again and this time I'll write the parameters down. Then I'll share them with you here [ see next post ]. That being said, I looked at the GS3 VFD manual and notes I have. Basically you just need to do the motor tune setup procedur...

Re: Hooking Up An Automation Direct GS3 VFD to Acorn
Hi Brian, I have the same GS3 drive however I utilized external Omron relays ( not the onboard Acorn relays nor the Acorn external relay board , only because I had this setup before I switched to the Acorn Controller ) and did the absolute minimum ( just spin reverse, spin forward and 0-10vdc and 0-...

Russ,
Are you using 5vdc or 24vdc to power pins 11 and 22 ?

Re: acorn and dmm dyn 4 losing steps
Cut2cut, Quick question. You said you are using the terminals to connect your amps to Acorn. Those are open collector outputs did you add pull up resistors? I had an issue similar to yours thought it might be backlash but I failed to use pull ups so I was missing steps. I built a test cable to use ...

Re: acorn and dmm dyn 4 losing steps
cut2cut, Nice looking cabinet. You might want to verify the spindle cable leaving your VFD is a good shielded cable, that is a huge source of issues in cabinets and making sure that cable says away for low voltage cables is really important. If that is an un-shielded cable you will most certainly e...
