Re: Integrating Sunfar E550 with Acorn PLC
I ended up going with the GS4-2020 VFD from Automation Direct and cancelled the AMZ ordered HY VFD. Ultimately I just wanted a stout VFD that would work and work well ! Its huge and overkill for sure. I did, however experience a small amount of stuttering due to inadequate shielding so I ended up do...

Re: Integrating Sunfar E550 with Acorn PLC
Thanks Marty, I'll give the Huan Yang a try. My limitation of single phase 220v supply really restricts my VFD options for a 4.2kw spindle. The only really good quality VFD for a 4.2kw spindle is a $1380 GS4-2020 from Automation Direct. Jake Hence my hesitation to use such VFD's. You never know the...

Re: Integrating Sunfar E550 with Acorn PLC
Hi Arthur, You are not crazy. I've spent the last couple weeks trying to figure out why the same brand and model VFD has been causing me grief. I wish I had come across your post sooner. Basically I did everything you did to try solve it. I even rewired my complete electronics cabinet because of all...

Re: Rigid Tapping - not seeing index pulse
Yes, it's the PID tab, line 5 Thanks Marty, it's solved. Likely just a finicky solder joint but possibly a ground issue too. I edited my first post and subject line to say its solved. Its working well with the default rigid tapping settings now. Nice tight threads. [url]https://youtu.be/wC5g_tdSS0g...

Re: Rigid Tapping - not seeing index pulse
The encoder is directly connected to the spindle, so its 1:1. I have parameter 65 and 66 set to .5085 which is the pulley ratio, if thats what you mean, Marty ? edit: I need to check the PID screen for the asterisk in column 1 row 5 next to the N while rotating the encoder to verify the Acorn is see...

Rigid Tapping - not seeing index pulse [solved]
[edit: solved. it appears it was one of two issues (or both). A solder joint that was a bit suspect and/or I simultaneously soldered the read head side of the "drain" shield ground wire to the 0v solder tab which reduced noise. I had previously only connected the "drain" shield g...

Re: DMM ZRI Homing using only two inputs
see above Carl. Best, Jake I’ll post my home file when I get back to the mill in the next day or two. It appears some setups are a little unique so it’s worth looking at a few. Jake Hi jake Friendly reminder, were all Waiting to see your home file and how you made it all work with just two acorn inp...

Re: DMM ZRI Homing using only two inputs
Here are a few notes. I'm sleep deprived, but hopefully this will help a bit. This code below may require some tweaking for your machine configuration, so start slow and do one axis at a time. Also, depending on the version of CNC12 if you open and save settings using the wizard it may over-write th...
