why when i tighten the gibbs on my dovetail mill the backlash goes up?
Ive got a dovetail ways mill with double ballnut ballscrews. (PM-30MV) When i tighten the gibbs, driving the wedge in, all of a sudden i get more backlash. Backlash meaning that when i jog the mill forward 5 thou, when i jog reverse 5 thou it only goes one thou etc If i tighten my gibbs a lot, i can...

Re: Will acorn work through a usb C ethernet dongle? What about through a switch?
And if you are having memory limit issues with 16GB of memory now, what the heck are you using the PC for while trying to run Acorn? A bad google chrome tab addiction :P Gotta have my jams when milling! And you know how McMaster tabs tend to accumulate that and fusion and solidworks open always I e...

Will acorn work through a usb C ethernet dongle? What about through a switch?
Will acorn work through a usb C ethernet dongle? What about through a switch? Looking at picking up a newer laptop because the 16gb of ram on my current one is limiting. Problem is that it does not have an ethernet jack and i would need to use an adapter. How well does acorn work through a usb C eth...

Re: Tool Library and Fusion 360
if just running gcode, the only thing in CNC12 you need to set is the tool length. Works a lot better though as a height offset from your probe vs actual length. swissi probe app is pretty good The diameter is only if you want it to show up as its size on the graphic preview graph thing. i actually ...

Acorn reading spindle speed 4times faster than it should be <answered>
Just got a new encoder installed 1:1 with the spindle. Changed the ppr in wizard to match encoder. CNC12 says spindle is turning 4 times faster than it actually is. Go to mdi and say m3s3000 and cnc12 says 12000 rpm. Tachometer says 3000rpm. what am i missing? Thanks Here is the Encoder https://www....

try hitting cycle pause before hitting tool check. Also, it wont stop if in the middle of a canned cycle, like a tapping op.

Re: Acorn6!!!???
And if the mechanics are solid and precise you don't really need scales for <0,01mm tolerance. if you have 0.0005" of backlash and want to make a part with tighter tolerance than that, then scales would be awesome. Same reason you use scales on a manual bridgeport or if you are converting an o...

Re: Acorn6!!!???
If you can use scales i wonder if you could make a macro that uses the scales to automatically figure out backlash comp
