Tweaking VFD and Centroid Parameters

Yesterday I tried to "calibrate" my spindle speed and when all was said and done I started getting Drive Faults. I have a Hitachi SJ-100 VFD -see attached. I was reducing A04, which was set to 60 to get the actual speed of 560 down to the commanded speed of 500. I started getting intermitt...

Re: Wanted; turret encoder for Hardinge CHNC2

The table comes from the Centroid Retrofit of Hardinge dated 2004 - I consider it just a reference. Based on the fact it is using different INPUTs for the hall cells vs Todays ALLIN1DC, is not time to start swapping wire. I will have to position my turret to all the positions and compare what I get ...

Re: Wanted; turret encoder for Hardinge CHNC2

My encoder seems to work although I have some questions about the truth table. I had planned on taking off the magnet holder but the screw may have ben Loctited in...I wanted to spin the turret and see if the diagnostic lights worked for the 4 positions and they seem to work but not according to thi...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

I just started having spindle issues; speed is fluctuating and will go into fault. I was trying to calibrate the spindle prior to this trouble. I have a Hitatchi SJ-100 and was changing parameter A04... I had been making good progress on all the items I had just hooked up : Collet closer seems to wo...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

Is there a built in function for rotating the turret/select tool? I can force the turret to spin by forcing OUT17 and I can see the status of the encoders change IN 19-22 I see a truth table in the the old manual for upgrading a Hardinge lathe - it used different INPUTS for the positions how do I in...

Re: Wanted; turret encoder for Hardinge CHNC2

Today (2/13/24) I plan on opening up the cover over the encoder for the turret and see if I get any response from the encoder.

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

I went through and made connections for the collet closer and turret...of coarse I was hoping everything would work, but the reality is that I have a lot of work to do to get the two items to work. As with most of my progress I have lots of questions; How To get the turret to recognize what position...

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

I was able to get the wiring cleaned up on the cross slide and got rid of the AMP taper pin plug while I was at it. IMG_1704.jpeg https://photos.app.goo.gl/KL88FycMxDj5WmwWA I like your idea of using the terminal block: how many connections? What is going on with the tube - is there wiring inside? ...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

I manually moved the X axis and triggered +X and did the same for the -X but no change on IN15. I removed the outer two switches and was able to trigger -X IN15 but when I put everything back no go. I took out the plunger to inspect it and it seemed fine - It is difficult to see into the pocket wher...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

Does INP15 turn red when you jog the X axis minus, far enough to trip the switch? I'll check Sometimes the axis movement does not press the switch down far enough, but tripping it by hand does. You can test this without risk of bending anything, by leaving E-stop pressed in and turning the ballscre...
