Re: Converting an existing CNC machine to Centroid

Those are Igus slides, I’ve used them for other projects. It depends more on the power of the stepper motor drive train and drive that has to lift the spindle. The Igus slides can handle it.

Re: Converting an existing CNC machine to Centroid

Also on your spindle choice, that’s only a 800 watt spindle. I’d recommend at least a 2.2 kw spindle or even larger. I’d go with the spindle and vfd that Marty posted links to. Automation Tech has some great items at pretty good prices.

Re: dust collector and aux buttons <answered>

I did the same thing with my spindle coolant pump. It used to come on and off a lot thought the code but I edited the PP to have it come on after it measures the first tool off set at my fixed tool touch off plate and shut off at the end of the program. I leave it on during tool changes to keep cool...

Re: leadshine motor drives

First to begin with, if I were to design a machine for aluminum I would use 2505 screws, just for the extra reduction. Then I would see my cut quality at full/half and quarter steps. Of course this reduces rapid speeds lower than most desire on a large table, so the 2510's are a decent compromise. ...

Re: leadshine motor drives

One of the things that happens when using 1/10th microstepping is that the available torque is reduced so much that especially when cutting plastics and aluminum, the motor will "jump" back to a full, half, or quarter step. This puts a "serrated" or "faceted" edge on a...

Re: Tool Setting Options For Routers and Mills

No apology needed Vincent, have you modified this script at all? I dont think I ever tried this one as I have a movable and fixed tool touch off. I can go back and compare it to the original version I downloaded and compare. When you say it works perfect at the start, are you setting Z0 manually by ...

I keep hearing this "rumor" also, I'm anxiously awaiting the release myself, this will put the finishing touches on my machine.

Re: Tool Setting Options For Routers and Mills

Hi Vincent, which macro? There are dozens of them for the tool change and z zero settings, you'll have to be a bit more specific for anyone to help answer your question.

Re: macros

Hi Charlie, I've changed 5 of the AUX buttons on the VCP and they are very helpful for my CNC router. I do not have a pendant but instead use my wireless PC keyboard at the machine for full machine control. I learned most of these from Gary Campbell and his videos. They are super handy and soon we'l...
