Why is the included power supply dual voltage? Do I need 5V?
Hello! I've got my acorn up and running following the guide for the clearpath CNC4PC wiring diagram. I happen to notice that nothing seems to use the 5V output of the included power supply. Do I need the 5V output for anything? I am using a more industrial grade 24V power supply for some other compo...

Re: My CNC12 didnt come with the "wizard" program
Thanks!TheKitMill wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 9:37 pm Hello password is 137 and the Wizard is part of the CNC12 software. Press F7 Utilities from the main screen then F10 and the wizard will pop up.
I was confused because all the videos showed the wizard as something you could run separately from a desktop shortcut.

My CNC12 didnt come with the "wizard" program
My CNC12 didnt come with the "wizard" program that is mentioned in the videos. How do I get it? I checked the C: program files and all it installed is the CNC12 and the control panel. Is there a new way to set everything up that I am missing? Is there something obvious I skipped over? Than...

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps
I had the exact same issue today! If you havent done so already, Download the wiring schematic for teknic servos. [Centroid home page -> DIY Acorn CNC Control -> Acorn Hookup schematics] This will download a zip, the clearpath schematic PDF is toward the bottom. What I am guessing you are missing (w...

Re: What is Acorn's servo output max speed pul/sec (frequency)
What kind of machine and what sort of rapid speeds are you expecting? Here are the servos I am using https://www.teknic.com/model-info/CPM-SDHP-3446D-ELS/?model_voltage=75 My question is more asking how fast the acorn can pulse on and off. For example, a BRX PLC can only pulse on an off its high sp...

What is Acorn's servo output max speed pul/sec (frequency)
Hello, I am looking to use an Acorn from my CNC conversion. My question is what is the Acorn's max output frequency for the servos? I might be blind, but I cant seem to find the spec anywhere. I am using Teknic SDHP servos which can go up to 64K pul/rev. I want to know how much I will have to reduce...

Re: how to connect a servo for spindle
I find it odd that the 'pro' version of the acorn software explicitly supports ridged tapping, yet the board doesnt have an obvious way to reverse the spindle. I could use two relays to swap the polarity (swap the GND and 0-10vdc wires), but I dont see an obvious way to have it auto do that with CAM...

how to connect a servo for spindle
Hello, I am comparing a few different options for controllers. I see that the acorn has a 0-10vdc control for spindle and an encoder input. How would I control a servo spindle with this that can be stopped and reversed? Like if I wanted to do rigid tapping. The servo drive is a yaskawa SGDH-50AE The...

Return policy scares me. New to CNC
Hello, I am new to the CNC space. (I have done a fair bit of manual machining though) I am converting a PM-30MV mill to CNC with Teknic servos. I would like to go with an Acorn board, and have heard good reviews about it. My concern is that the return policy is only 14 days. I dont know if I will be...
