Turns Per Inch
I think my turns per inch setting is off. To that end, I'd like to check it using a dial indicator. I watched Marty's video and have his spreadsheet. The problem I'm running into is getting the G1 command to work. I go into MDI, Enter G01 X-1 Z0 F10 and nothing happens when I hit cycle start I can e...

CNC12 Lathe - Chamfer help
I'm new to all this so bear with me. Using CNC12 Conversational I'm trying to face a part, then chamfer edge. I can get it faced without an issue, when I insert the chamfer block (after the facing), the graph shows the chamfer at the original part end before the facing cut (does that make sense?) Ov...

Control Spindle Speed Only - Temporary
I'm working on the lathe conversion, but it is my main production machine as well. I'd like to be able to install the motor, get some work caught up, and then do the rest of the conversion. The question is; can I have acorn just control the motor for now? I suppose some sort of program loop so it ke...

Re: 0-10v Analog Port - voltage to high spindle test cycle 1 (Self Resolved)
I used this schematic, with minor changes to account for port number differences on the 7300ev.

Re: 0-10v Analog Port - voltage to high spindle test cycle 1 (Self Resolved)
I have it running. Used the generic VFD schematic. Acorn is connected to VFD via Spindle Speed ports and External Relay Board. Output4 is spindle forward, output5 is spindle reverse. My issue was as suspected with the VFD settings. I had it set to communication control. It needed to be set to extern...

Re: 0-10v Analog Port - voltage to high spindle test cycle 1 (Self Resolved)
The acorn is sending the right signals so I know my current issue is with the VFD. I've tried testing with jumpers and it SHOULD be working. The VFD is set to accept speed input (0-10v) on the AIN input. When voltage is applied, the frequency display on the VFD shows it's accepting that input. I thi...

Re: 0-10v Analog Port - voltage to high spindle test cycle 1
OK. I'm an idiot..
Changed battery in DVM and now works perfect...
Teco 7300ev not accepting speed control, but that's another matter..

0-10v Analog Port - voltage to high spindle test cycle 1 (Self Resolved)
I did a search but couldn't find what I needed.. I have the Acorn on the bench, nothing connected but power and ethernet CNC12 is connected and running Set the max spindle speed to 3000, min to 0. Running the cnc program SpindleSPeed bench test. 1st cycle says voltage should be within 10% of 1.66 Mi...

Encoder Wiring - Omron
Likely an obvious question, but I want to be sure.. I have an Omron Encoder with pinouts of +5, A+,A-,B+,B-, Z+, Z-. and 0V In looking at the Acorn Encoder port. it has pinouts of +5,A+,A-,B+,B-.Index+,Index-, and Return Would I be correct in assuming that Z+/- on my encoder would go to Index +/- on...

E-Stop Function / VFD
I'm still working on the wiring of my Acorn on the Grizzly G0602 lathe. I'm having a little trouble understanding Estop. Estop is connected to the Acorn board via pin 8. Switch pressed and pin 8 goes to ground, initiating the Estop. (24v to pin 8 - Estop - Common Buss) The question is - what exactly...
