Re: Screwcutting
These boys in Glasgow are pretty good on pricing and fast delivery. I ended up buying 2 each of the metric sizes between 1.0mm and 2.0mm in each of aluminium (AK10) and steel (T250). https://www.shop-apt.co.uk/threading-inserts.html I've been using 250rpm and 500rpm for my threading. That's still p...

Re: Screwcutting
For M10 /3000rpm it needs 4500 mm/min feedrate, If your lathe cant move at this rate, reduce rpm. Pitch 1.5mm x rpm = feedrate mm/min Uwe The max speed that CNC12 will allow me to cut this thread is 800rpm. If you try and program it faster it comes up with a Z error saying above maximum and will no...

Re: Screwcutting
It is because you are cutting a LH thread. If you want to make RH threads with a left turning spindle, cut from -Z to +Z and make sure that the Insert is at the right angle for RH threads. Use 3000 rpm and 9 passes. CNC should be faster than manual threading and this will give you better surface fi...

I have converted a Boxford 250PC and fitted a threading tool on the turret but because the spindle has to turn backward for the tool it will only cut a left hand thread. I cannot turn the tool upside down so the only other option is fit a threading tool in a boring bar and rotate the spindle forward...

The complete look of your internet site is remarkable, not to mention the content material![/url] That sounds interesting but I don't see any links to any site? @Phil - could you post a link if you are happy to share? Always great to see how others are progressing! I'm currently updating a Tree CNC...

Re: Boxford 250PC Turret working
you can specify feedrate with G53 using the L command. G53 X0 L20 ;move to machine coordinate X0 at 20 inches per minute without the L command G53 moves at max rate. I was going to edit my post to specify that but you beat me to it. I am going to use the M105 and M106 command so as the tool positio...

Re: Boxford 250PC Turret working
Yes it can change faster if you increase the jog speeds in the motor setup wizard. I am still tuning the settings. I have it set at 6400 steps per rev and 50 in the fast jog which sets the rotation speed. It uses a worm and gear mechanism. I was using G53 which uses the fast feedrate but it reversed...

Boxford 250PC Turret working
Here is a video of the turret working so far. It needs some fine tuning and maybe some changes to the code to make it 100% reliable. I am using the axis driven macro with changes to the code. It uses the turns ratio for the A axis to determine the distance between tool changes then the M105/A P-3 F2...
