Re: Lathe tool setup question

Inscribed circle is nothing specific to RhinoCAM. It is an ANSI standard way of defining the size and f an insert cutter. It is a circle that tangentially touches in this case the four sides of the insert. It’s the parameter you enter into the CAM tool setup as one of the cutter defining parameters....

Re: Limit Switch overide issue

Argh! I just thought it was ok. In the lathe mode, limit the cerise doesn’t work as described in the initial post.

Any idea what might be going on?

Re: Lathe tool setup question

Sorry, the picture doesn’t seem to want to attach. The tool holder holds a diamond insert such that it would cut a V. The tool holder extends the diamond wider. So, in the tool definition, would you allow for the tool holder to prevent potential crashes.

Lathe tool setup question

I’m an absolute newbie at cnc lathe. I am starting to set up tools in RhinoCAM. Would you define the inscribed circle of the tool below as dimension A or dimension B? The reason I am asking about B is it seems like it would prevent crashes.

RhinoCAM lathe post available

I have used RhinoCAM for my CAM work on a router for years. I recently converted a Mill Turn to CNC12. Mecsoft listed a Centroid post processor for milling but not for lathe. I gave them a call on Friday and Uday told me they had one and promptly emailed it to me. He also said he if there were any m...

I C for the third lathe axis rather than Y and the issues went away 😊

Re: First lathe part on a converted Shopmaster Mill Turn

Well, I did get a thread cut but it was pretty much a all day project. It was my first look at Intercon and lathe cutting threads. I never could get a chamfer cut on the end of the shaft. I must have read that section and flipped the options around a dozen times but couldn’t figure it out. But, that...

Limit Switch override issue (Resolved)

I am using a Mill Turn so I have a configuration for milling and a different one for lathe. In milling ,ode, the limit switch override works as expected. If I get to a limit, I can press the limit override button on the VCP and it lights up and lets me off the switch. In lathe mode, it appears to ig...

First lathe part on a converted Shopmaster Mill Turn

I’ve pretty much completed the conversion of a Shopmaster Mill Turn to Acorn/CNC12 control. This is a brief tour and first lathe part using the Centroid pawn file. The video gets a little long during the main cutting and I’m a video newbie so haven’t figured out how to speed it up. You may want to d...

Re: Third axis for Lathe mode

Ok, will explore the noise further as you describe. I did a short video describing why I want to use the vertical axis. Hope this clarifies...
