Re: Fusion 360 Personal Edition Changes Coming Oct 1
Hi Mike, I took a look at the FreeCad website. I was interested in what CAM functions were included. I found references to 3D printing, LinuxCNC, and grbl, and how you might go about creating your own post processor, but no other posts built in. Am I missing something? CAM is one of the great values...

Re: Servo's creeping
I had a problem with closed loop steppers on a bench set up creeping like that. I tried various remedies with no success. The closed loop stepper drives were rated at 200,000 hz. Out of curiosity/desperation I changed the output on the Acorn to 100,000. Creeping stopped. YMMV but I thought I would p...

Re: Fusion 360 Personal Edition Changes Coming Oct 1
A couple of fine points: 4-axis CAM is not supported either. 3-axis is still supported. They advertise the 1 year license as $297 / $25 per month, but there is no option to pay it off monthly (at least not that I could find) There are other restrictions with the new free version, such as file types ...

Re: VFD for dc motor
You wouldn't use a VFD to control a simple DC motor. You could buy a KBIC controller and KBIC-240 isolator board on eBay. Then use the 0-10 volt output on the Acorn. Marty has a video showing the setup on the Acorn User's Forum

Re: I smoked my Acorn - Is It Junk?
If you finally determine that you've trashed your Acorn, somewhere on Centroid's website, there is an offer for a discounted board for folks in your same situation. It's kind of buried, so you'll have to do some searching.
Good luck

Re: control box size
Gather all your electronics together, Acorn, drives, PSU's, etc. Lay them out on a board and arrange them until you're happy. Then look for a control box that is larger than that, as you will want to add or change components throughout the life of your machine. Too many people start out with a box t...
