Re: 327 Fault Acorn CNC

I found one 327 fault in the log file 11 seconds after Acorn started so I don't know what to think there. There are some spindle faults and quite a few axis faults. I'm guessing a drive is faulting and stopping your job.

Re: Exceeding travel

Take a photo of the CNC12 screen with the machine in the first photo position, and one with the machine in the second photo position and post them here.

Re: Safety door input behavior

Hence the second post in this thread from Marc. If you don't want to handle the PLC programming yourself, Centroid can do it for $90/hour, or I believe Marc also does custom PLC programming - http://cncsnw.com/

Re: Exceeding travel

Without seeing exactly how you do your tool setting it's hard to say for sure that it is right or wrong. This could be a problem with setting your WCS and not your tools. I'm leaning that way since there is no Z offset in your current WCS in the above photo with the error.

Re: My Sherline Chucker lathe with Acorn control build

Yes, he could have added twice the paper thickness to the measured reference diameter before he saved it. However, setting tools this way is an approximation at best. The better way, and Keith would have done it that way had he three hands, would be to take a skim cut with each tool and enter the ex...

Re: Exceeding travel

For WCS #1, there is no offset in Z, and your Z limits are set to -8.5 and 0, and tool 13 has no Z-axis offset, so your maximum movement in the positive direction is 0. Line 14 has you trying to move to Z0.0758 which exceeds your travel in the Z positive direction. It's usually not a good idea to ig...

Re: Exceeding travel

You'll need to post the Intercon file as well so we can see what line 16 was. Normally, travel exceeded errors occur because of incorrect WCS settings or tool offset issues.

Re: Set Acorn So It Homes In Z then X Direction. Not the two at once?

You should set your return point before starting Intercon. Then the return to home moves while graphing will show correctly. Graphing inside Intercon will show the complete tool path starting from the current tool position, and you can use the feed override knob to control the speed it graphs. If an...

Re: Set Acorn So It Homes In Z then X Direction. Not the two at once?

Are you using Intercon or some other program to generate your g-code? You need to add in the correct moves to clear your part before calling a tool change.
