Re: New AjaxCNC Tech Bulletins added 3-18-13
yeah. you can always buy a little analog volt meter and use the analog output of the VFD to run the meter. check your vfd, often its 0-2 volts vdc output for load... so just buy a volt meter in that range.. and wa la you have a spindle load meter the old fashion way.

terminal spacing is 1.125" Dean, Newark has a screw terminal 12,000uF@350V cap in stock that might work: http://www.newark.com/nichicon/lnc2v123mseh/aluminum-electrolytic-capacitor/dp/27T9721?categoryId=800000005280&searchView=table&iscrfnonsku=false I can't get to my cap to easily meas...

Re: Southwest Industries Prototrak DPM conversion
dean, hello. all ya got to do is un solder those caps and replace them with high voltage units of the same mfd or higher. just do a careful job and not overheat the traces on the pc board and don't make any solder wiskers that will short anything out. once updating the 6 year old allin1dc board with...

Re: Southwest Industries Prototrak DPM conversion
What MFD ? capacitor are you using after the rectifier?
The capacitor smooths out the DC pulses from the rectifier, this smooths out the DC for the allin1dc to use for the servo motors. 12000 MFD is required for good smooth DC supply voltage.

Re: Southwest Industries Prototrak DPM conversion
Is temperature the only real limitation to going a little above rated voltage? If so, how "hot" is too hot? I don't have the formula in front of me, but if I remember right, 120vac yields about 177vdc. Do you think the engineers left a little headroom on their 160vdc rating? ;) <<<voltage ...

Re: Has anyone converted Bridgeport Vari-drive to fixed rati
i've seen several guys do it with custom aluminum pulleys and multi vee belts. (timing belts are not good spindle belts they make a ton of noise) most bport vari drive owners just lock the stock vari drive in an approximate 1:1 position and use a VFD in conjunction with the allin1dc for true program...

Re: Southwest Industries Prototrak DPM conversion
Good progress so far, but I have a question: Years ago when I first worked with Scott to identify my SWI mystery servos, he told me I needed to step down the AC with a transformer, which I bought as part of the kit. The original specifications for the machine said it had a Max federate of 150 IPM. ...
