Re: Home/Limit Switch Design Lessons - Questions
A parameter to force homing at each power up would be a good idea, I'd certainly use it. Shawn, I guess I don't follow. You don't get DROs until you home the machine. There is a message that says Press Cycle Start to Home. You have to be able to jog the machine close to home switches and there are ...

Re: Home/Limit Switch Design Lessons - Questions
I'm referring to the PARK command built into CNC12 not a custom park position setup by a user. When you hit F10 to shut down then F1 to park the machine it parks at a rapid move to within 1/4" of the home switches. I have a small 2'x3' machine and even when I'm at the furthest point on my table...

Re: Need advice on a new build please
when I was just checking if the Acorn controller would be happy talking to the HSS86 motor controller Yes, as long as you connect to the DB25 header and set step pulse to 100khtz I read the manual for this drive and it states "Pulse response frequency can reach 200KHZ". Since it says it C...

Re: Home/Limit Switch Design Lessons - Questions
That's not a habit I have but yes they could come in handy if you regularly do this. I use the park command on the shutdown screen to park the spindle right near the home switches before I shut it down and the first thing I do when I power it up is home it like it tells you to do. Others of course m...

Re: M6 Dwell Time
I did see the examples in the manual. I’ll try to sort out what it means. I know not to use it in the m6, I was just saying that’s where I have a dwell now. I like this idea and will experiment. Just another item on my to-do list.

Re: M6 Dwell Time
I take a different approach. In the VFD parms, set one of the outputs to "Up to Speed" or "At Desired Frequency". Connect to an acorn input. Instead of any G4 dwell time, simply check that input (M100, M101) for the state set in the parms …. and Voila! Never wait again. Hi Gary,...

Re: M6 Dwell Time
I also modified my Vectric post processor to add in the delay for the spindle so it comes up to speed before it moves back to the workpiece after a tool change. And of course added a delay in the beginning of my M6 macro to the tool has time to brake to a stop before it moves to my tool change posit...

Re: Fault Reset When Activating Spindle
The VFD is going to worry about those 25 things whether you connect the fault signal or not, and it's going to stop the spindle whenever it detects a fault whether you connect the fault signal or not. If you don't connect the VFD alarm to the control, then the VFD could fault and stop the spindle w...

Re: Home/Limit Switch Design Lessons - Questions
I was assuming that you have proximity switches when you may only have simple NC or NO switches as limit/home switches. As Keith stated S14954 is for NC/NO switches and S14955 is for proximity switches. Either way you really only need 3 switches at a minimum. You mentioned you'd rather see this wiri...

Re: Fault Reset When Activating Spindle
Glad you figured it all out and it was a configuration issue only. My question is.......Is wiring the VFD drive fault a good idea or proper procedure? I do not have mine wired up but according to my VFD manual there are 25 pieces of alarm information and protection in total. That seems like 25 more ...
