Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
The encoder was tight on the shaft...damn metric threads..9-) The belt may be a little tight but there is some play. I get encoder counts on the screen. Is there a way to see an index pulse? The encoder is a Suntek LHE-714-2000. Now that I've taken it off is there anything else to check...like oil o...

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit
There are a couple parameters that need to be set, also a Pro license is required. P218 3 for lathe P348 15 There may be other setting for setting number of clicks per rev of the knob...it's in the Centroid lathe operators guide Looks like your report has those two set...now you need professional ad...

Have you checked to see if it is incremental mode? Mine was that way. Also the default feedrate was 1% 8-(

Re: NPT Threads in Intercon - Workflow
I went back and removed all wear from the tools, went through the tool setting process again and made sure I could cut the 1/4-20 and M6x1 threads I had set up in Intercon using modified minor dimeters. Then I tried cutting M3x0.5 - Maybe M3x0.50 is too small -I was breaking off the portion to be th...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
I started getting X-Axis position errors. The X Axis is clearly not happy. I shut down and restarted to see if homing would help but the X servo is oscillating Is there anything I should check as far as tuning. What other diagnostics are available? I noticed that an autotune was run - I am not sure ...

Re: NPT Threads in Intercon - Workflow
I will assume the new threads can be saved for future use. I’m using an ER11 A60 insert that doesn’t make a full profile. What type of insert would be required to create the minor diameter as programmed. Thanks for the info on reducing minor diameter.

Re: NPT Threads in Intercon - Workflow
I decided to start with a simpler test. Assume tool offsets are set correctly... My test gage is a nut - not ideal but I'm just experimenting. I need to learn to use thread wires... I cut M6x1 threads and had the proper OD, per micrometer, but the nut did not fit. I adjusted tool wear, several times...

NPT + Threads in Intercon - Workflow
I have just started investigating Intercon for the lathe and wanted to know a bit more about cutting NPT threads. For standard threads my workflow is FACE - TURN - THREADS. As I enter the threads I note the Major Diameter and go back to modify the turning op to match. With NPT threads I am not clear...
